Floyd Rose and tone

Re: Floyd Rose and tone

Buy a Big brass block and get an original Floyd. You tone and sustain will be so much better. And yes get risd of those mafia pickups

Re: Floyd Rose and tone

One of the best sounding guitars I ever had was a 1984 Reissue with the 84t pup in it and a Floyd.

It is true that the Floyd has an effect on tone, but it isn't insurmountable

Re: Floyd Rose and tone

don't hack the rockfields up when you pull them though; some sucker will pay money for them hehe

and block that floyd

Re: Floyd Rose and tone

Ok, last question:

If I was to put in the supersized L-shaped brass block, would it affect the flutter effect on the OFR bridge?

Re: Floyd Rose and tone

Not to the best of my knowledge.

It would, however block the path to the screw that adjusts the whammy bar's height so it'd be best if you set it to the desired height before installing the L-shaped block.

I mean, it's not as if you'd want to change the bar's height more than once (if at all) anyway...

Re: Floyd Rose and tone

I really hated the Mafia pickups in my Mockingbird, just awful buttmud whenever I would drop from standard tuning at all. Mine's a nontrem though.
