floyd rose frx vs digitech whammy

im looking into saving up for one of the 2. im hoping for feed back from people who have used one or the other(i.e. how annoying is frx to install, retune, restring/ how annoying is whammy to get usedto) thus far pros and cons for both to me are

Floyd Rose FRX:

pros:
-no power supply
-less pedal board rearranging
-less glitchy because thats what pedals do

cons
-re-tuning is now a pain in the arse
-setting up a floyd rose (never done before)
-restringing a floyd rose (most ive done on a floyd is pawnshop playing)

Whammy 5

pros:
-weird glitchyness when wanted
-no permanent guitar mods
-more range of whammy

cons:
-needs a separate power supply so i cant just add to dasiey chain
-i JUST got all my pedals Velcro'd where i want them
-alil large for a pedal

im putting here because im not sure if ''the pedal board'' or ''the guitar shop'' would be better.

Different animals. Whammy pedal is not equivalent to whammy bar. If you're looking to get the effect of a bar, it's different from what the pedal does. If you're looking to get the effect of the pedal, it's not what the bar does.

I agree completely and was going to post the same thing.

Both (Floyd and Whammy) sound pretty bad in *raises hand* untrained hands. That being said, a Floyd is a vibrato arm, so it can be used in a more traditional manner. What is the least off-the-wall way a Whammy can be used? As an extreme detune/chorus? Think of three Whammy players that aren't Tom Morello, then think how many songs they use it in. (The three that come to my mind are Gilmour, Satriani and Dimebag, they each use it in 1 or 2 songs)

I think in the end, a Floyd will be more univerally useful. The FRX looks like a pretty straightforward installation too, so that's a benefit.

I have a whammy pedal (whammy 5), and it doesn't replace my Floyd guitars. I'd love to put an FRX on my new Les Paul, but I'm liking the G Force robot tuners
