Floyd Rose posts

What is the best way to remove/install them? I am swapping a Ping FR with a Original made by Schaller. From what I have read and seen, everthing seems pretty straight forward, but I am still in the dark about the posts.

When the stud is in the post, take the claw of a hammer, hook it underneath the stud, and pull them out. That should do the trick.

Re: Floyd Rose posts

check out floyd upgrades .com . Videos here will even show you how to dismantle it in to pieces and put them back together.

Exactly... Seconded. Also, with Floyds, if you go for an OFR, even the best OFR or variant (FR II, FR LP, FR PRO,) get corrosions and suffer the effects of human oils over time. We sweat, get bits of skin / food, beer, whatever, stuck in the trem. For some, the oils and sweat of the human body can actually corrode low-quality steel. Floydupgrades sells titanium and stainless versions that are not only stronger (and of high quality), but can significantly fatten up the sound of a floyd (which due to its smaller block, can sound quite thin relative to a hardtail or even a vintage (ie: strat) tremolo).

this isn't the greatest vid, but it provides some idea of what upgrading not only from a copy to a proper floyd can do, but also the components within the floyd as well. even something added to an OFR like a simple brass block as opposed to that tiny block can help (more mass isn't a bad thing). Give em a call.

I am almost positive you swap the post without having to swap inserts. Mike (xssive) would know for sure.

Almost positive they're the same premise as on a 2 point strat... you can take the posts out, but those inserts aren't going anywhere... they're there much the same as inserts for a machine-screw neck job.

Re: Floyd Rose posts

I would DEFINITELY NOT take a claw hammer to get the inserts out.

Get a piece of dowel or the eraser from a HB2 pencil, take out the post, drop the object in, and then put the post back in and tighten it down all the way, it'll ride up on the object in the hole, and the insert will rise up. use a bigger piece of dowel after that if you need to push it up more.
