Floyd Rose Stone Tone Tremolo Blocks

Re: Floyd Rose Stone Tone Tremolo Blocks

Have you tried sweet potato? I'd imagine the tone would be a bit thinner, right?

Oh no not at all, as a matter a fact the complete opposite.
Jeff Loomis now uses 10 Rock Blocks on all of his 6 and 7 string guitars, check out the tone a that sweet potato.

Ok, this is just the prototype that Crusty and I put together, but we have high hopes that we will achieve at least 50% greater signal strength at the amp due to the lower starch content and higher concentration of key minerals in the sweet potato material compared to the original PotaTone blocks which were based around primitive Russet technology...

Introducing, the SWEET PotaTone!

Awesome! How many years did it take to develop the proprietary chemicals to keep it from spoiling??

You'll have to ask Crusty for the specifics, but from what I understand, the scientists at McDonalds had a hand in creating the special preservatives used, which were designed with longevity, tone and taste in mind.

For what it's worth, I've been using my PotaTone outside in fairly hot weather for several days now and I have experienced absolutely no signs of material degradation. If anything, the tone has improved!

It didn't take too long once the issue was discovered ... it was that latter part that was problematic. When testing the prototypes, I used to get into some very strange headspaces. It took some time to discover that bacterial growth on the blocks would drift into the atmosphere around the guitar and I was inhaling it. As much as some of the effects were very trippy and great fun, it was decided that for the production models, the bacterial element had to be supressed.

The scientists at McDonalds were very helpful and it didn't take us too long to come up with a tweaked version of their preservatives that ticked all the boxes for the qualities that masta'c mentions in post #128.

(some of the very earliest prototype blocks that I kept in the workshop have now left, they crawled out into the garden and burrowed holes in the dirt where they seem to be flourishing). But the product you can buy today will be guaranteed to stay in the guitar and give years of health-preserving sonic pleasure.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm too dumb to understand the science behind ANY of these blocks ;)

Perhaps Crusty can provide some input. I never thought about Cryo-treating a block (hmm...patent, anyone?)

Re: Floyd Rose Stone Tone Tremolo Blocks

Certainly unique looking, what was the name of the Stone? :yourock:

haha always take kramersteen words as 60% truth and 40% kidding...... or was it backwards... :scratchch
anyway it's still crazy how the mad asutralian luthier made that thing look like an ol' piece of stone impaled by bamboo without a cnc machine

uhhh well maybe duncan staff guys could chime in about the effects of cryo-treating things, ya know they did with the zephyrs right?
mc have you tried scatter frying them blocks?, and what about an aging process, like the antiquity pickup treatment but for potato blocks?

Re: Floyd Rose Stone Tone Tremolo Blocks

Don't know, on my Ibb, on the last 2 frets, high E, I get about 1 second more sustain when the trem arm is on and fastened, not-free moving. So lets wait till the review from Securb.

Re: Floyd Rose Stone Tone Tremolo Blocks

I just got finished reading through this thread. I've got to be honest, I am absolutely appalled and embarrassed by the responses from many of you, as well as many of you that I consider my friends.

First off, the guy stated that he came here because he did a search for his product, and one of the places that it led him was here. He posted to answer questions. Sure, he somewhat advertised, and "spammed" his product, but how many other members here have done that? Plenty, that's how many. He also wasn't completely aware of said "spamming" rules. There's been a bazillion guys on here do that, so I don't get why yall just centered in and picked on this guy.

Immediately Stonetone was bombarded with pure a$$holeism. I mean, come on. People question and wonder why this forum isn't as great and beautiful as it used to be. Well hell, if you want to know the answer to that then just read how new members are treated.

I have been a member of this forum since it wasn't really even a forum. When it did actually become a forum per se, I was the 2nd person to join it. Yeah, big deal. I have seen so many changes on this place that you wouldn't believe. However, one of the changes I've never been able to stand is just complete dooshbaggery.

This thread has made me almost sick at my stomach by the way this man has been treated. And just because of that, I am going to purchase his product from him, and hopefully shut many of you up. Honestly, I don't know nothing about the damn thing, but if he offers a guaranteed money back guarantee, and FLOYD FREAKIN ROSE PROMOTES AND SELLS THE PRODUCT THEMSELVES, well then surely it's not a piece of crap, and what the hell do I have to lose?

Anyways, some of yall folks need to check yourselves at the door before you come back walkin in here. I tell ya what, just because your life sucks, and you're a pessimist, that don't mean you need to bring that downer crap to this forum.

I always look and try to think for the most positive outlook on things. I suggest some of you try and live your life the same way. It just sucks that immediately yall started talking some of the crap that you did. No wonder half of ya don't get laid!!

Yeah, I'm pi$$ed!!,

Jolly

I would happily depart but the doorkeepers will not let me take my belongings.

I apologise if my perspective appears un-American. This may have something to do with the fact that I am not American. I do not subscribe to that bogus permanent optimism thang. A pessimist is what an optimist calls a realist. I do not know what an optimist calls a Surrealist.
