I think that's where all the complaints regarding Floyds came come since everyone was retrofitting them. These days, most Floyd equipped shredder axes you find in a music store will have hot humbucking pickups and in most cases mahogany or basswood bodies- and therefore no one has really complained lately of a Floyd giving a thinner tone. John Suhr indicated a Floyd gives extra clarity which some players prefer.
You'd need hot strat pickups with a darker tone to balance out the brightness. Again, it's designing from the ground up.
1. EVH does SUCK really bad
2. Vai and Satch really aren't that good
3. Floyds are crap compared to say, a vintage Strat bridge with a tremol-no or a trem-setter.
I can't say anything of Petrucci, as I haven't listen to his music.
I have to ask if this is legitimately serious, I am not huge floyd fan so let's disregard #2... However, the rest of what you said is just plain non-sense. To even attempt to deny the playing ability of any of those players (even if it's not your style) is ridiculous.
The Fralin SP43 is very P90ish....I'm pretty much an anti-humbucker in a strat kinda guy also..I May end up selling this strat anyway, cause it collects dust!
When I play a strat(s)....I prefer the 6 screw vintage style bridge...No FR for me!
Gotcha. I dig Floyds or the 6-screw trem (though I don't use the trem when it's not a Floyd...lol) and humbuckers in Strats. It's been my thing for years.
You could probably get a good price for that Strat.

OK EVH does suck to day and the past few years yes. But he has done in the early years of Van Halen is nothing short of amazing and earned him the title Greatest Guitarist Ever (by some) even to this day and for the prime of his career and playing I think he truly was that.
If you honestly think that Vai and/or Satch are crap you should listen to their music (cause you obviously haven't) And then you should learn what a guitar actually is (it's a stringed instrument with which people make music) and then learn how to play it. And maybe then you might realize that what Vai and Satch are doing is almost beyond amazing and I dare you to do the same.
If you don't like FR's sound or feel... fine. But saying they are crap is just plain stupid. I again dare you to dive bomb with a normal strat tremolo and then say FR's are crap compared to them.
Petrucci used FR's from 89 to 98 and since 99 he has used only his Music Man bridges on his Music Man guitars. So if you check him be aware.
I don't think EVH sucks today....Why do you think that?
I'd love to hear your playing and the songs you've written.1. EVH does SUCK really bad
Well he doesn't completely suck today. The new album wasn't great it wasn't bad. He hasn't done anything signifigant pretty much after the heyday of Van Halen. Back then he was absolutely brilliant. If you compare that to the little he has done now, the recent things aren't even a whisper in wind. And all the drug use and the fact that he keep changing guitar brands suck pretty bad in my book. Yes he has improved his condition lately though. Is he drug-free or alcohol-free, I don't know but he has alot to catch up if he is to become even close to the same EVH he used to be.
Eddie still rips even though he's pushing 60....I don't totally agree with you,but tht's ok..
Oh he probably still plays better than most of us youngsters. But if you have the new album and with the deluxe edition came this dvd of few songs played live acoustically. I mean I respect Eddie for what he has done but those three songs actually sucked pretty bad. It's just what some of us want to expect from him knowing what has been able to do.
And the age is another excuse. As I don't think Eddie isn't an Übertechnical guitarist (still more of a feeling type) so his playing style/technique should more likely stay in shape longer than maybe Vai's.
Being lefty though sucks! I hate selling stuff as it's hard to replace! Are you familiar with the Fralin SP43? Killer strat bridge pickup...Lew sold it to me..Thought about sticking it into one of the strats I use alot...Still quacks, but also grinds like a nice P90...
I Like the vintage bridge to float off the body about 3/32" or so..Mainly I use finger vibrato as I'm basically a blues player..When I do use the vibrato,I use it subtle to shake multiple notes or whole chords...
Not familiar with Fralins at all. Sounds cool though.
If you don't play it, why keep it? Sentimental reasons?
I have come to the conclusion that its just not worth it
-break a string guitar is ****ed
-hassle setting it up
-hassle intonating the damn thing
-thins the guitars tone since a lot of wood has been gutted form the guitar
-severely brightens the guitars sound
-kills sustain
-looks ugly
-used as a crutch for people who cant really play guitar
I am personally done with them.
