Floyd rose tremolo problems Help!!

HI, I'm having a problem with my floyd rose original. Lately, i've noticed that when I dive, and return, the floyd doesn't return perfectly to tune but rather a little bit flat, BUT if I pull up after diving, it comes back into tune. Then I noticed that the lock nut was actually moving around when I dove and came back, but it wouldn't come back all the way, so i would have to pull it up, and that would make it sit perfectly again. But, I've fixed this issue, using toothpicks I filled in the top mount screw holes, and basically redrilled it, regardless it doesn't move now.

It helped out a lot, BUT, I'm still having the problem. Its most apparent on the 3rd string, but the floyd just doesn't come back to its neutral state, I can see the level of the floyd changing ever so slightly, but why would the 3rd string go out so much more then? I've been through a variety of scenarios as to what it could be, but I'm still not sure what it could be. So far I have removed the cotton I put in the springs to mute it just a little, I fixed the nut, the locks are working fine, I've checked the posts, they seem to be holding up well, the baseplate seems ok, but it looks like the gold plating is getting pushed up a bit when it touches the studs. I don't know what else it could be, maybe the fine tuner tension plate is crapping out? or is there lateral saddle movement, or are the saddles not bolted down tight enough? or the trem claw and springs are not doing their job properly? Is there a particular way i should have the springs set up? but how would that explain the 3rd string going out of tune more than the others?
I'm clueless, if anybody could help, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks,
Allen

Doncha love floyds? This probably isn't the problem, but do check the nut saddles to make sure there's no small grooves worn in as a result of overtightening.

May or may not be the same trouble you are having but when i bought a used imported performer series Jackson from the mid 90's i had tuning issues.... The guitar would never come back to tune quite right... I removed the bridge completely from the guitar oneday and noticed the threds for the trem posts had a lot of play!!! I guess the metal inserts where made of a pretty soft metal and over time the holes ovaled out allowing the posts to rock back and forth... i ordered some hardened Floyd Posts from Stewmac and pulled the old inserts out of the body and installed the new posts and inserts... plays and stays in tune great now!!!
