Floyded “Les Paul” bridge pup replacement

I recently picked up an LTD Alex Skolnick sig. First of all, these guitars seem to fly under the radar, but they’re GREAT for the money. Anyway, this one has a Floyd Rose bridge and came with a J.B./59 combo stock. I like the 59, but I’m not in love with the JB. I prefer something more vintagey sounding and not as compressed. I also want less upper mids and balanced with more harmonics and clarity. I’m considering the 59/Custom Hybrid and Saturday Night Special. Anything else I should be loooking at?

PS: I have Rolph 59’s (A2) in my R9 which I absolutely love. I’d like this to be a bit different than that guitar...

Thanks in advance!

I like the Hybrid here, but you can also check out the Parallel Axis Blues Saraceno model, which is actually a really cool pickup.

The hybrid actually works very well with a '59 in the neck, probably one of the best combos for "vinagey" tone but with a little more potential in the bridge (with the hybrid) for more versatility. If you find that the hybrid is a little too bright sounding, changing the A5 magnet to a UOA5 or an A2 works wonders.

Thanks again guys. I wound up with a Super Distortion which I’m not loving. How about the OG PATB or SH6 Distortion? Any others I should consider?

Mincer speaks the truth! Both of those pickups are fantastic and are great under high gain. I also highly recommend the Screamin' Demon. It its NOT a high output pickup as the name would imply. It is great for general rock/hard rock and even metal. It has amazing harmonics and great crunch.

the PATB1 (original) is a great pickup but maybe a bit like the Jb in terms of compression. If you don't want compression stay away from the Distortion.

Oh and by the way, excellent avatar pic choice. That is pretty much my favorite album of all time!

You might also consider the Custom 5. Very good pickup in LP types. Has a little more muscle than an SNS or the Hybrid but still cleans up well and sounds fairly vintagey. Great match for a 59N.

This for the win. The PATB and a Floyd are fantastic. I have the original PATB, but I'd like to switch it out for the PATB-3, for more vintage tonzes.

Thanks for all of the replies! Any thoughts on the EVH Frankenstein? Seems like a good fit too...
