Floydy

Re: Floydy

Great tone, nice playing! I have always followed the less is more school of playing. Must be an old guy thing.

Re: Floydy

Thank you for your kind words gentlemen.

Keith, yeah, I put it together from scratch. The drums are midi loops that I cut up from my new Addictive Drums software, which I can strongly recommend to anyone using a DAW. I played the bass and the phaser rhythm part, and then clunked around on the Wurli and Hammond parts. There was blue smoke coming out of the midi editor when I was removing all the instances when I hit the cracks! The solo is a comp of three passes.

Hey Al.C, we're not old brother, we're just......experienced!

Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment, guys.

Regards, Geoff.

Thank you. It's a '68 Strat >Ulbrick 12AXE pedal >'83 Fender Super Champ. Shure Beta 57 > Brice valve mic preamp > Metric Halo ULN2 audio interface > iMac G5 running Logic Express 7.2. The Wurlitzer is Lounge Lizard, and the Hammond is a Jon Lord demo patch from Charlie Retro Organ. The phaser on the rhythm track is a freebie plug-in from KR Research, and there's some Metric Halo Channel Strip EQ and compression on a couple of tracks, including the solo. Drums are from a program called Addictive Drums which I only got last week and it's really quick to learn and use. Bass is straight into the Brice preamp, but then I added a freebie SVT Cab sim plug-in from a developer called Airwindows. Shoes are by Nike and I clip my own hair with Wahl clippers...

Cheers..................Geoff.

a little tmi there. i was referring to guitar/pickups etc, but thanks for the complete rundown. addictive drums sounds cool. i'm going to check that out. thanks.

Re: Floydy

Sounds like you got a great setup - I know the ULN2 is not cheap!

I like the amp!

You're right, I spent nearly as much on the audio interface as I did on the computer, but it makes a huge difference. Beautiful mic preamps and great converters, internal hardware mixer with on-screen controls, zero latency and front panel independent monitor and headphone volume controls. I do quite a bit of production work for other people as well as my own stuff, so I wanted something good between the computer and the real world! The Metric Halo stuff is superb.

Cheers....................wahwah
