Footswitch pop question

I recently bought a Johnson stereo footswitch for my Laney VC30 212 combo. The footswitch works the way it should. 1st switch changes between the overdrive and clean channel, 2nd channel turns reverb off and on.

The only issue I have is an audible pop that is loud when switching.

When I have the reverb turned off on the amp itself, there is no audible pop when switching between the overdrive and clean channels. The issue is when I have the reverb switch turned on the amp and use my footswitch to turn the reverb on and off (only way to control the reverb with the pedal.)

When the reverb is turned on the amp and turned on via the footswitch, there is no pop when switching between the overdrive and clean channel. When the reverb is turned off via footswitch, thats when the loud pop is heard when switching between channels.

This may just be a design flaw with the amp, but I was wondering if this could be corrected in the footswitch itself.

Re: Footswitch pop question

I remember hearing once, that it had something to do with static energy. Click it a few times before you turn the amp on. If not.. seek someone with better advice. (and in that case it's definitely not static energy)
