Footswitch question

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
Will one of theose MArshall DFX pedals - Channel/DFX work for Clean/OD and OD1/OD2 on my VS100???

I'm looking for a footswitch. Cheap (imagine that?).

Re: Footswitch question

Dunno, but I lucked across a Crate ftsw that works perfectly.
Just sayin'

Man,I gotta go get that damn amp...

Re: Footswitch question

IO was running my Catalinbread Supercharged Overdrive into the clean channel today. Mmmmm.

And then I ran it into OD 1 :headbang:

Re: Footswitch question

Is there one you've got your eyes on?
There were a few in one of the pawnshops last time I was there.Hell, someone just put a couple up on CL.

Certainly worth a shot!
I guess Stereo plug & 2 switches is what you're going for...
I know on my VS,I think you have to work from the Cln channel to get the fs to work...

Re: Footswitch question

Hey man,

I don't know about the specific pedal you are asking about but this kat:

http://www.voodoomanswitches.com/ - The Voodoo man (not to be confused with Voodoo Labs)

makes really good switches. They aren't pretty but they work.

When I bought my Coliseum 300, she came with one and I use it for home defense.

Good luck,

Re: Footswitch question

Depends on the jack at the amp, which should be stereo (but you never know!), but yeah, any 2-button switch with a stereo jack and a TRS-to-TRS cable should work.

Don't recall the model #, but there's a Digitech footswitch that's 100 years old, encased in steel, and comes with a 4-mile-long TRS-TRS cable. They're generally cheap on Ebay - don't even know if they still make them - and can work with anything that will plug into it.

Another point to consider - if the original pedal is set up so that it selects between Clean and FX with one switch, and OD1/OD2 with the other, you might have trouble if you get a 3rd party pedal where the switches turn each other off. Try to kick on some chorus or FX for that solo you're about to break into and you get a chorus/FXy clean tone, or you try to kick on the chorus for the clean and go into OD2 while strumming a GMaj7.

Re: Footswitch question

Yeah, it just seems that anything that does Channel A/B and then Channel B1/B2 functionally would work,

401, 2000, valvestate, MGD.....whatever.

Now, an fx on/off might be different, or reverb. But otherwise...

Re: Footswitch question

Most 2-button footswitches with TRS should be compatible, but some use "non-standard" pinouts and won't work. Usual convention is that the sleeve is common, and the tip and ring are used for one switch each. I think some Fender multi-switch pedals use a resistor network and a simple TS cable instead.
