...which pedal(s), are the best bet? Oh yea, I'm really only interested in ones that are readily available today, as opposed to vintage hard to find ones.

The Radial Tonebone series are good pedals, very good indeed. But after giving the Blackstar pedals a chance, they somehow seem a bit "unnatural" to me.

I'd say you should give the Blackstar pedals a try for yourself. They're also much cheaper than the Tonebones. Not so long ago, I posted a long and thorough review about these: https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=114203

if you want a cheap pedal that's destined to be a "classic-kick-yourself-for-not-buying"...be sure to give a digitech bad monkey a spin. It's nice. And its cheap.

Yeah I like the Bad Monkey. It's more useful to boost your tubes into overdrive than used for the overdrive tone tho. You set your amp to barely breaking up...use the volume knob for cleans, and the pedal to go into full-blown overdrive.

how about the duncan twin tube tone humper or whatever it's called
