for my basswood body guitar

Hi guys, I just picked a new basswood body guitar(bolts on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets, 25.5 scale, whammy bar). I am going to swap the stock dimarzio pups with a set of duncan pups.
For the bridge position, I am not sure which one to go, JB, CUSTOM, C5. I like the C5's "scooped-mids", but I don't know whether it would sound too bright with the basswood body guitar.(to compare with the dimarzio steve's special, any difference between the steve's special and the C5? which one sounds more vintage & warmer?)
For the JB and the CUSTOM, which pup has less mids? Because my amps and cab have lots of mids, I'd like to go for a scooped-mids pup.
For the neck position, I am looking for a articulate, warm sound. Jazz? 59? or Pearly Gates? Thanks guys!

I have a JB and Jazz in my basswood body Ibanez. The JB sounds like Megadeth, Jazz jives a nice bluesy tone

usually basswood body are very resonant with strong mids so the C5 is a good choise because it enhance highs and basses giving a full range tone .
I would be afraid of brightness with the C5 cos' it has less ice pick than say the 59 , Demon , Distortion and Custom .
And for neck the jazz or 59 or Demon could work .
I have C5 with Demon in exactly same kind of guitar but with no tone pot and it's great .

I have a guitar similar to yours and I have a JB in the bridge. I wouldn't replace it with any other pick-up :13:

Do you have a floating trem also? I have the same type guitar but with a floating trem and i really like the JB alot, but i thought it would be to trebly in that kinda guitar.

The stock neck pickup of my guitar is an air norton. I wonder what the difference between the dimarzio air norton and the duncan jazz is. The air norton works well with my boogie amp, it's very smooth and warm, but this combo isn't too grainy IMO. For the neck position, I'm looking for a nice clean and articulate, warm, grainy dirt tone. Thanks!!!

i think we have the same guitar! (sounds like my ernie ball john petrucci) i actually replace the air norton with a jazz. i found the air norton to be great for articulate/bluesy lead tone but it turned into mud whenever i used it for chords. The jazz on the other hand isnt quite as good for the lead tone but it is crystal clear with chords. Think an open-glassy sweet sound.

alnico 5 and ceramic pups go best with basswood
alnico II is a bit too "loose" in the bass for the darker toned basswood body
