Found a local made Les Paul copy that looks promising

I stumbled upon CMG guitars

looks like these are made a few hours from where a live, and my local shop seems to be carrying a few.

Anyone played one to know if they are competitive to say a Gibson LP studio or PRS S2 Singlecut?

$750, American made, Dimarzio pickups and gorgeous flamey tops. Is there a catch?

They absolutely seems sweet, almost too good

I will literally pass by that shop that has them every day on my way to school and back...might stop in sometime this week

Hmmm place over in Lakeland has these. Might have to call and see if they have any. That Trans Red one with the wood inlay stripe looks Cool.

Do they make any with the V-V-T-T 4 knob setup? On a HH guitar it's really tough to get that true Les Paul black magic on the in-between position with only 2 knobs. It just can't be done. Great price and nice looking guitars though, just not as functional.

Speaking of volume, there's only one of this baby! We've never saw the need for two volumes and two tone knobs so we got rid of them–keeping the design simple and easier to use. Have you ever been on stage and turned the wrong volume down at the wrong time? Yep. We have too. Not anymore. We're removing the variable

Can't say I've done that, personally.

You'll also notice that the toggle is in a much easier to reach place. It also won't get in your way when you're tapping away like Eddie....

Right? It's ridiculous! It's almost like full blown propaganda against the traditional switch placement and 4 knob setup. Obviously they are probably trying to avoid a lawsuit by making them slightly different but still... enough with the snake oil pitch.

No joke. My original reply did say "probably to keep the lawyers away" but after reading the spiel, holy cow.

It gets worse: "grabbed the Neck volume when I was going for the Bridge volume"

herpaderp. Learn it right, or reverse the wiring to suit your needs. derp derp derp.

Agreed. In my 16 years of playing LP's this has never been a problem for me. Just like playing the guitar itself it all becomes muscle memory with practice.

I would prefer 2volx2tone but I don't dislike master controls.

I'd guess they did it to save money. No wiring channel under the top makes the construction simpler & cheaper.

In marketing, anything that precedes what you're selling is obsolete, outdated, antiquated, etc. Eeeewww... who still uses that old four-knob setup? Two knobs is where it's at! Eeeeewww... who still uses vacuum tubes? Solid-state is the wave of the future. Eeeeewww... who still uses desktop computers? Eeeeewww... who still uses pads? They feel like diapers. Etc.

He's spot on about the switch though..that placement's a PIA when you're tapping..

Mine was never a problem. I could flick it with my thumb at-will, or completely avoid it without really trying.
