found my Arbiter England Fuzz Face Reissue

some of you might get a kick out of this ...

I've been taking stock of my pedals lately, and pulled out the first thing I bought on Ebay five years ago:

Arbiter England Fuzz Face Reissue from the late 90's... "In an attempt to recapture the pre-Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face sound, Ivor Arbiter recently reissued his original mid-’60s Fuzz Face.

From the mic-stand casting to the smile that reads “Arbiter/England” to the PNP Germanium transistors – Arbiter’s reissue is the closest-sounding/looking pedal to the real deal. After all, it’s made by the same company that started the Fuzz Face craze of the ’60s.

Re-creating the pedal meant including Dennis Cornell, one of the original engineers, and locating original components."

well despite the marketing hype, this thing actually sounded pretty good through my cranked tweed Deluxe ... none of that "cleans up well" crap though -- this is a 'blunt force trauma' instrument! :)

these reissues, like the originals, were notoriously inconsistent. Mine's pretty high gain -- much moreso than my Fulltone '69 -- but it also gets some nice harmonic content as well.

besides, it has a beautiful hammerite silver finish, and just looks cool! :D

not only that, John, but this is a very cool pedal ... with your ears, you could probably hear the gain from Florida! :D

Very, very cool indeed!

I have been looking for a good Fuzz Face for a few months now and those seem to be the ones that most guys like but they don't pop up very often.

I saw one on Ebay last week ... I think it was about $100 ... not much more than the Dunlop's ... personally, I think it would be worth it for the looks, as long as you have the real estate. :)
the other issue is that you may just want to replace the trannies with a set from Small Bear ... that's about all you'd need to do though -- the rest of the board has good components

Re: found my Arbiter England Fuzz Face Reissue

I don't think that anyone's said this yet, but that's very cool!!!!

Re: found my Arbiter England Fuzz Face Reissue

Had an old 60's once....sold it for some odd reason back then;)
Got an old very early 70's Schaller fuzz later on, same Germanium transistors...so I count myself lucky:D
