Fralin Blender Pot..Let's Talk About That Tone Cap Value Again?

I like the Surfer pickups and they sound really great...When I'm in the bridge only position and with the blender pot on 10,the bridge pickup is bright and too honky sounding...

The tone control only has a .002 cap in place and it only changes the mids and doesn't allow nowhere enough tonal cut...I still wondering if the tone cap isn't supposed to be a .02 and not .002 like the Fralin drawing is showing? I'm hoping this was a typo error because the tone control as is right now is pretty useless... :smack:

I like the Blender pot and how it offers alot of tonal variety, but the tone control needs some magor beefing...

John,
well, I posted on the other thread, but ...

I thought one of the other guys said they thought you should use a standard .02

Probably right buddy and I'm sure it's the reason for all of this extra presence I'm talking about...Seemed that .002 was the wrong value from the get go..Lew didn't get a chance to get back to me about the correct value...

Hi John, I don't know if it's a misprint or not, but I'd never use a .002 cap. Go for a .02. I'll be in the shop all day today from 10 - 6 Mountain Time. Give me a call and we can compare notes. 303-443-2030. Lew

I'm putting together a new pickguard for one of my Strats too: Ant Surfers neck and middle and a Duncan CS Jerry Donahue Tele bridge! I'm going to put it in my white Strat that was routed/hacked for a bridge humbucker. (Looks like the previous owner did it with a drill and a dull chisel) Also, you might really, really like the Twangbanger. Output and tone wise, it's an alnico 2 and sounds right in between the Antiquity Tele and Jerry Donahue Tele. I have it in my Blue Strat with the APS-2/Twangbanger combo and couldn't be happier. I like the chunky tone of an alnico 2 Strat bridge pickup too....not better than the ANT Surfer Custom bridge, necessarily, but I like it alot! And I like it as much as the SP43 too, BTW. Lew

I Now have a .022 cap on the tone control and once the rest of my Rip Van Winkel family awakes,I'll see if that fixes my issues...
