Awesome! My first thought was it's a German thing, but they didn't do such elaborately carved bits, nor so giant or freestanding. I guess the Italians were into this style for a time, as per the work of fellow Genoan builder Settimio Gazzo.
Those 19th-early 20th century guys (makers and players) were truly the extended range guitar OGs . People going ga-ga over 8 strings these days? Nah.
