The percentage of its effect is debatable. You will get many different answers. As for the wood characteristics: Maple is usually associated with brightness, but I see it more as a snap that it adds to the sound. Rosewood gives more of a warmness, notes tend to bloom from a rosewood board. Ebony has a snap as well, but is also warm.
