Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

My buddy's shop has six of the new Friedman BE-OD pedals on the way. One of those will be coming home with me immediately to demo, and if I likey... to stay.

Based on Pete Thorn's review of it, it'll likely be staying. But then again... Pete could probably make a Gorilla amp sound good. :D

I really like what he did with the looper, to kind of re-amp the sound and show you how the controls affect sound... it's towards the end of the video.

Re: Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

I definitely like the compact size of it. Price isn't bad compared to other boutique options.

Absolutely! I've had two Bogner Reds, a Bogner Blue, a Bogner La Grange (demo'd it only), and two Carl Martin Plexitones (V1). All were/are great pedals... but the size is so stupid big. Especially the Plexitones. The BE looks like it'll be a winner. Will sell-off my last Pexitone if I keep the BE.

Re: Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

Yup. Have owned the full size PT and it takes up a lot of real-estate. The La Grange isn't any better either haha. Just from hearing the demo, it sounds like it picks up from the med gain side of the La Grange with the ability to clean up. I am curious to see if the bass knob reacts better than the La Grange.

Re: Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

Yeah, I saw Pete and Friedman both post that demo on their Facebook pages the other day. It sounds very good in the demo. If I didn't already have the Helix, I'd probably be salivating at this pedal.

I'm looking forward to see how it works out for you!

Re: Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

Yep it's a great pedal. I've played it and it's everything they say it is. No pedal can take the place of a $3700 tube amp like Dave's. But Pete suggests that by saying it gets close enough that you can get this pedal, and not have to worry anymore about what kind of backline you end up with.

Goddamn it, now I have to get one of these.

Re: Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

You know where I've gotten the best tone out of all my Bogner pedals? It's on the second input of my JCM 800, which is fatter and lower gain like an old Marshall Superbass.

Great sounding pedal, great playing....

petes gotta be in his 40's right? that looks like a haircut his younger gf talked him into cause itll make him look cool and hip(ster). hes a great player but looks like a choad now.

Re: Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

true enough. i also dont really watch gear videos often at all either so if it wasnt posted here, i wouldnt have known.

Re: Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

Awesome! Wanted a Friedman BE for years but no can affordy.. If this puts me in the ballpark with the tone, Ill be thrilled! Didnt see price anywhere?? Was rushing thru and mostly saw haircut talk..
Im hoping itll be cheaper than a Bogner pedal.. Im still planning to get a Red one of those one day.
I agree though about the haircut. When I first opened the thread, I thought it was the singer for Black Veil Brides in the vid..

Another thing that struck me funny at first, but he says how he goes way back with Friedman and Dave does his boards.. Seemed funny having Pete do this since he is a Suhr Amp endorsee,

Got to fully watch the vids and with my hearing aids in so I could really hear it. Sounds pretty impressive! Seems to have alot of range on the knobs and most importantly seems to capture the fat "goeyness" of the amp. Very hard to capture the soul of an amp in a pedal.. The Bogners did it pretty well too, imo

Oh, one more thing... Broken down and dirty, dressed in rags.... From the day my momma told me boy you pack your bags....

Re: Friedman BE-OD pedal inbound...

nice haircut pete

LOL!!! That's what i kept saying to my wife when we watched the video. He used to be such a rugged, manly man... and now he looks like a hipster band member. Not important... cause he's such a monster player and nice guy. But still...
