what is a fair price for one of these? make a offer but no trades :thanks::) pix available if requested

Re: FS: floyd rose black off a charvel so cal

I would have said $90 for an OFR is a GREAT price. Surprised no one's taken it off you yet.

Re: FS: floyd rose black off a charvel so cal

That's no OFR, that's a Korean made FR. At least Charvel (Fender I'd say) were producing guitars with FRT-2000 bridge, which is the OEM Korean version.
It works very well but the plate steel is just not strong as the original one. Worth the price btw.

Oh right, Floyd Rose Special? Like the one on the Charvel Desolation? Probably still a great trem, I'm looking forward to getting one on the DST-3 Star!

NO this is NOT a floyd special like this,

it is the FRT 2000 like this
from the floyd rose site http://www.floydrose.com/pdf/FloydRose_PartsCatalog.pdf
The Korean model OFR is what Floyd is supplying to all the large manufacturers as OEM these days, and this would include large manufacturers who own small brandnames, such as Fender/Charvel.

The Schaller-produced model is bubble pack only (aftermarket) or supplied to very small boutique builders.

I received a Korean-made licensed Floyd on an Agile recently and compared it to the Korean-made original Floyd on the Custom shop access that arrived the same day, and they're identical (and in fact, came off the same line, though there are two separate Korean lines that produce OFRs these days, according to Floyd). Both guitars currently have Schaller-made OFRs at the moment, but not because there was anything wrong with the Korean models (and those are currently in other guitars and doing very well). I'd have no compunctions about swapping them around (except that I wish they'd standardize on a shape so that the routs could standardize as well...)

which is a real floyd rose there is none of that under floyd rose patents s**t printed on the trem. there are two real floyds the german made and the korean made both are considered real floyds. ask floyd himself like i did:approve:

Re: FS: floyd rose black off a charvel so cal

Well, like I said, I would have thought $90 is a great price for that.

thanks i think it was a fair asking price for a floyd in excellent shape.
a fellow forum member named chickencoop here that i have had dealing with is probably going to grab it for $75. I gave him a break on the price because he had gave me a few great deals himself:)

Re: FS: floyd rose black off a charvel so cal

Well, if he doesn't buy it, let me know!

BTW...does this come with the arm and/or any hardware?

Re: FS: floyd rose black off a charvel so cal

Maybe it's because I'm in the UK, but any time I've thought of upgrading the JT580s on my Jacksons, OFRs have been like $250! So $75 seems a steal to me.

Europe gets the nice cars and overpriced guitars!

In the U.S., we can get brand new, German-made Floyd kits in the $180 range.

These OEM Korean-made OFR's have some very minor differences from the German made versions, but they are still made by and sold by Floyd Rose and are truly the "next best thing" if you can't source a true, original German made Floyd.

The "Special" model, on the other hand, is made in China with far inferior components. It's a solid choice for low-budget builds and works better than most "licensed" units out there, but even the Korean OFR like this one is MUCH better in nearly every way.

ED- let me know what the chicken-man says!
