Ladies and Gents,
I am offering my near mint '54 Reissue ("R4) for sale to a forum bro before I list it for mo' $$ on the Bay. This is a 2005 model and is in super, super condition. It has smokin' P-90's and that wraparound tailpiece that does so much for sustain. I have to give the nod to the '54 reissue over the '56 due to this feature...it holds notes forever.
Guitar comes with OHSC, case candy and the Certificate of Authenticity.
Weight is about 9.3, which to me is slightly below average for a Goldtop. It's very comfortable to play, to say the least. The neck is slimmer, more reminiscent of a '59 LP, as opposed to the baseball necks of typical Goldtops or R8's. I'm not saying it's slim like a 60 LP, but it has just enough meat so as not to be uncomfortable.
Another interesting point is that you can actually get a PAF-esque tone with this baby if you play with the knobs a bit. Talk about versatility.
Gibson just discontinued the model and about 3 weeks ago, someone on the LP Forum said MF.com had about 4 left, at $2900. Here's the spec on Gibson's Custom Shop site.
I am only selling this b/c my wife has put me on a guitar limit as we are trying to purchase our first home. I recently succumbed to GAS and bought my first LP Historic with humbuckers (R8, review to be posted soon) and since I've had numerous P-90 guitars, I figured I'd stick with the R8 for awhile and see what it's like to have an LP with buckers.
I was going to list on Ebay for $2350 BIN. I would take $2200 from a forum bro, and may be a wee bit more negotiable if PayPal is not involved.
PM or email me at jonnytino@aol.com if interested. It will be posted on the Bay this weekend if I don't sell it here. Thanks.
BTW - lighting in pics is kind of dark. Guitar is not green!!!
