Like it says ,these come out of my 99 R9! I replaced them with a set of real 58 PAFs or they would still be in it. They sound like the older 90s 57s should! Ill trade them for an alnico staple top in black.a Gibson or Duncan! Otherwise $205, OBO, shipped to the lower 48. Thanks. SD

No love for them at $205 is probably more accurate. 57's are cool, but not that cool. Sorry, just being honest.

+1. It also appears as if you registered just to sell these pickups. People will see 0 posts, registered yesterday, combined with the price (and no "OBO"), and laugh.

Fill me in on this quote. Ill give you the OBO ,I forgot to put that in the copy. So as I see it youre saying something like. Oh,thats that brand new car dealership that just opened,no one would buy a car there! They just want to sell cars! ???

This board is a fairly tight knit group of people, and a new comer listing something for above market just gets ignored. It is not that we don't like you, we just don't know you (yet). :D

'57's set for between $60 and $80 each for the most part.

Re: FS one pair of Gibson 57 Classics from my 99 R9!

I agree,$60 or $70 each for newer ones. The older ones from the 90s go for around $100 each, different mags. etc. different tone too. Ive got 4 sets from the 90s in my guitars and they all sound better than the newer ones. I have no problem with a shallow gene pool, theres always at least one that learns to walk upright. Have a good one.SD

"Shallow gene pool"...that's cute! You do realize that the others were offering constructive advice, right? As soon as your sappling branch of the family tree figures out how to run on those two legs as fast as the rest of us well-evolved forumites, do let us know ;)

By the way, your "old" 57 Classics from WAAAAYYYY BAAACCKK in the "90s" are no different than the current versions being produced today. Any tonal difference you hear between the '90s vs. 2012 versions is simply from aging of the pickups and the particular guitar(s) you're using them in.

There was a special (i.e. limited edition) "hot vintage matched set" sold through the Gibson store with "Alnico 3" mags in a 57 Classic neck and 57 Classic Plus bridge, but the production Gibson 57 Classics have ALWAYS had "Alnico 2" mags...including yours...and still do!

Your used Classic 57's aren't worth any more than anybody else's used Classic 57's. Search eBay and see what listings have recently sold for if you need a baseline.

Good luck!

I think you're the minority there. Everybody thinks they have something special worth more money. Sorry but there's a lot of gear-heads and pickup aficionados here and I think most would not agree with you.

Now you're just a dick. Good luck selling anything around here now. See ya.

Re: FS one pair of Gibson 57 Classics from my 99 R9!

This is why your pickups were getting no "love." The perceptive people here could tell by your initial ad that this is what it would be like dealing with you. False claims of the greatness of your product, high asking prices, poor response to criticism...and so on.

Your used car dealership analogy is severely flawed. This isn't Craig's List. You don't just join up to hawk your **** and do nothing else. However, the analogy is OK in one respect: you are acting like the stereotypical used car salesperson.

I also highly doubt your pickups sold for asking price. That probable lie is just your backhanded way of trying to teach us a lesson for speaking the truth straight to you when you asked for it.

In short, go jump in a lake. Glad we could upset you so, because you deserved it.

Re: FS one pair of Gibson 57 Classics from my 99 R9!

First off,Im not upset, never have been. You guys are way too touchy. Why would it bother anybody that Im asking what Id like for what Im selling! Then you assume they sold for asking price and call me a liar! In closing Id like to say a few things. Keep in mind, all i did was post that I have somethig for sale. Someone felt it was up to them to set me straight on my asking price . What would be the price of a cool set? You guys need to get out more, you know, meet some new people, expand your horizons, youll see your opinions are just that, your opinions! Better kept to yourselfs, unless asked for. Most problems in life Ive found start when someone sticks their nose in someone elses affairs, injecting unwanted and un needed input. I LOVE THIS.... "I also highly doubt your pickups sold for asking price. That probable lie is just your backhanded way of trying to teach us a lesson for speaking the truth straight to you when you asked for it".... LOLOL! Someones a bit full of themself arent they? This is a real hoot!! I cant stop laughing!!! You guys deserve each other ,Im out of here ,have fun in your own little universe, what ever dimension its in.Have a nice day.
