FS: Peavey 5150 Head w/Bias Mod

I've decided to sell my 5150 head, in search for a JSX.

I'm the 2nd owner, and I've never gigged it - this was strictly a recording amp, and was never even used for a band practice. It's in great shape in the front, but there is some wear on the back (metal corners, mainly).

This head has also had the bias mod done to it, with an adjustable knob next to the power tubes (pictured). This allows the amp to be biased much warmer than stock, and brought out of crossover distortion. This greatly improves the dynamics and clean tone of the amp.

I'm including a multimeter and two bias test probes, so you can accurately set the bias if you wish to do so. I haven't touched the setting since I got the mod done - I believe it's putting out about 40-45ma (could be mv? I'm not a bias guru).

It was retubed about 3 months ago from Eurotubes with a set of JJ 6L6's for the power section, and about 6 months ago with high-gain graded 12AX7's for the preamp, as well as a balanced 12AX7 for the PI position.

It sounds amazing (can be heard here) and works perfectly, but I need something a bit different, and with more than just one sound.

I'm asking $850 shipped in the CONUS, for the head, footswitch, and the bias probes + multimeter.

I love the sound of these amps stock...could you give a little more info on the change in tone with the bias mod in terms of the distortion sounds?

Stock, the amp is in crossover distortion, which makes it sound really cold and lifeless, when compared to other amps. I personally kind of like this, but I also really like a responsive, warm metal amp.

The bias mod throws some responsiveness and warmth in there, and takes away some of the harshness of the top end, especially when the presence knob is turned up.

If you roll the knob all the way counter clockwise, it returns it to the stock bias, so you can easily compare just by rolling a knob back and forth.
