JEFF, I AM EXTREMELY SORRY FOR THE INCONVINIENCE(sp) THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT UPON YOU. I APOLOGIZE FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED, I NEVER INTENDED THIS TO GET THIS BAD. I KNOW MY REPUTATION HERE AND PROBABLY ELSE WHERE ONLINE IS SCREWED OVER, BUT I WANT TO AT LEAST MAKE THINGS RIGHT BETWEEN US AND WHOEVER ELSE HAS ADMITTED TO WANTING TO "KILL THE SCAMMER BOY"------suprised to see no "member #4 of the kill the scammer boy club, pm stratomaster to join" goin around yet ---I WILL GET BACK TO YOU ASAP WHEN I HAVE RECIEVED THE FUNDS TO PAY YOU BACK WHAT I OWE, IT WILL BE EARLY MAY BECAUSE I HAVE A CONFERENCE OUT OF STATE UNTIL THEN
I never even looked at this thread until it was at like 9 pages or something equally ludicrious & even then it was just to see what the hoopla was all about.
I gotta say without "picking a side" or anything that I'm kinda flummoxed and shocked by the public reaction this transaction has brought forth... pretty much lynching an 18 year old kid.
In my eyes NEITHER party is seemingly 100% Kosher and in the right here.
Starting with the description of "barely played & a few small scratches" well geez guys...
I can CLEARLY see the dark, rusty pickguard screws in the first picture that Dusk posted, a couple three small dents on the headstock face & some scratches & swirls around the neck plate which would lead ME to believe that the guitar wasn't 110% minty-fresh.
Played little doesn't equal "mint" either.
I'm diggin' on the Chex boxes too!
The buyer should've & could've handled things a LOT differently from the get-go. Asked for more pictures, gotten the kids phone number and talked to him for an in-hand description BEFORE he sent payment over... done whatever he felt was required to make the transaction feel secure before blindly shelling out $500 to a stranger for a box 'o rocks. It seems like he didn't even 'make an offer' or anything of the sort...just sent the full asking price.
Could some or all the damage have occured in shipping since it was poorly packed?! Minus the bunged up frets that is...
Probably.
But on the flip side...how much of it is a big deal in the long run?!
Bent tuner...bend it back!!! Dead pickup?! Crack it open and see if there's an obvious wiring problem. WTF???
That's all SIMPLE gee'tar maintance stuff.
It's not all that hard to clean a fretboard either. Fret dressing is another matter but even still...
To me tt's reading like Stratomablaster is PO'd because the axe didn't arrive in time to be a birthday gift. I'm not sure I'd buy any of my nieces & nephews a used ANYTHING off the interknot as a birthday present.
It IS the interknot.
You never know what 'yer REALLY gonna get.
Look at the facts...Duskman delievered a guitar, the guitar pictured. Granted maybe it wasn't in the condition the buyer (or anyone else) would really be expecting it to arrive in, but it arrived in one piece with some "fixable" issues.
Asking for...
No wait...DEMANDING a 100% refund from the kid seems a wee bit outta place. If it were me I'd want a hundred or two back to get the frets dressed & sort out whatever the wiring issue is.
But then again... I dunno, maybe these two clowns DO have a contract that spells out receiving a 100% mint "used" guitar in Teamster-proof packaging and therefore Stratman IS due all his cash back.
Whatever it's all about...this shlt's plain weird. Don't we all have better things to be doing with our time?
Well this was a pleasant read before bed, if I was stratomaster I would fly the guitar out to dustin's house, and upon answering the door bitch slap him in the face with it. However, getting your money back is another good option. Reading this thread has made me realize how lucky I have been in my 2 trades on this forum, one of which was with The Usual who had very few posts, but I'm glad to say that both transactions went better than expected, communication was clear and timely. Seeing the reaction to this I feel secure in trading on this forum in the future, but I think exchanging numbers and a few calls first is a good idea anyways.
Communication is the most important thing, if I wanted to buy something and after sending a message waited for days to hear back from the seller, then I'm sorry but they just lost the sale. Given the history between these two I think it was stupid on both their parts to enter this arrangement.
