Check it out and tell me what you think.

The only thing I don't like about this video is that it doesn't really capture the feel of the pedal. The difference between the clipping sections on tape is not that much, but the way they respond to your playing is what really makes the difference.

Also, I'm game for doing a small production run of these if anyone is interested. The circuit will be the same as the one shown in the video, but the lettering and graphics will be vastly improved. The singer in my band does airbrush work, so I can even offer a cool custom painted enclosure as an option for those interested. Price will be in the $100 ballpark, which is a bargain considering what this pedal is and what it's capable of.

Oh, and for the sake of brevity I kind of glossed over this in the video, but the six clipping modes are:

1. Classic (two 1N914's like a TS-808)
2. Smooth (asymmetrical clipping like an SD-1, using two 1N4001's and a 1N34A)
3. Angry (two red LED's)
4. Sweet (two BS170 MOSFET's and two 1N34A's)
5. Complex (four 1N4001's arranged in rectifier config with a 1N34A across them - suggested by Rid)
6. Clean (no clipping)

I use this thing in my live rig, and it is a beauty. I'm really pleased with it. Hope you guys like it too.

That's freakin killer Matt!! Great demonstration. I think I could sit around and play with that thing for hours. I liked the number 3 clipping. It sounded very Marshallesque to me. You did a great job with the pedal.

Thanks! You should know too, having that JVM full stack. I'm glad you liked it. Lemme know if you are interested in getting your own.

:cool2::cool3: pedal, Matt.

It's funny, though...you don't sound Canadian....

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

While watching that I was wondering how well it would go along with my 5150. I'll definitely be thinking about it.

I bet you'll really like it. It seems to go well with high gain amps. I use mine into my Mesa Stiletto Ace. In addition to using the pedal like you heard it in the demo, I also use the green channel into the Stiletto's high gain channel to push it over the top. It's really great for that.

I made two of these, one for myself and one for a friend's 40th birthday. He uses his into a Triple Rec, and he's really happy with it.

Thanks!

I'm in Vancouver (bottom left corner of Canada).

For the first production run, I'm thinking somewhere in the US$100 ballpark with an additional charge if you want a cool-looking airbrushed enclosure. Realistically I could charge a lot more for this pedal, but I want to keep the price low because I know people don't have tons of disposable income right now. I also want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to "get in on the ground floor", so to speak.

I'm in the process of researching what my production costs would be, and I will base the final price on that.

Anyone interested in their own FTL Drive, I strongly recommend you get in on the first production run. It may be a long time before I do a second run (if at all). I can also pretty much guarantee that the price will go up for the second run.

I will provide more info on pricing and turn-around time to anyone who is interested when the info becomes available. Until then, feel free to ask me any questions about the pedal, and save your pennies!

Here's another bump for ya.
I could be in for one too. I believe you'll need someone to drill the enclosures...

I've heard this pedal in action in real life. It's even better than the video portrays.

lemme see the schematic on this one....please

I'll PM it to you tonight, as long as you promise not to start building your own or anything.

Thanks! I will indeed need someone to drill the enclosures, and said person would get a substantial discount were he to purchase one for himself.

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

Awesome! Three orders is the minimum I needed to make a production run worthwhile.

I'm still working on the PCB design. There are a lot more components than a standard overdrive, so it's pretty tricky. Once I've worked out how big I'll need to make the PCB I should be able to come up with a proper bill of materials, and from that I can calculate cost.

Yay!

Re: FTL Drive Demo video up on Ye Olde Tube

Shoot.

If I hadn't already put away $200+ for the P-Rails I'd seriously consider one of these. Sadly it would not be myself who got to make the decision, haha.

Have an estimated time for the production run?

EDIT : Also, nice job on the coolest name ever for a Drive pedal, lol.
