Fulltone closing up shop

Stock up now.

Hahaha, no. Have you ever dealt with the guy?? I’m not saying either way but he’s got a reputation… He demands photos of your echo machine with the serial number, VIDEO proof you installed it correctly and states in aggressive, all caps on the site/email that he won’t give you any more than one at a time, like they’re a valuable, non-sustainable resource. He’s notorious for straight up refusing to sell you any/overcharging if he deems it’s “your fault”.

I jumped through all his hoops and got my cartridge the last time I needed one without any issues. They do last a while with proper storage and care, but they’re proprietary, so I can’t just wind my own with any old 1/4” mastering tape if it craps out for any reason and I get the feeling he’s not just going to let me stock up easily or affordably.

Oh yeah, he's a d-bag from everything I've heard, but no, I didn't know all that. Maybe since he's cleaning house he may sell you more than one?

Normally he just sends a replacement if something goes wrong with the tape outside of user error (which I was able to prove last time.) I think they’re quite pricey to purchase outright but hopefully it should just last. It’s already outlasted the previous tape cart I had replaced. I keep it bagged in a cool, dry place when not in use.

No biggie -sad to hear -but there are 50 companies making fulltone style knockoffs and knockoffs of things fulltone was knocking off that are as good

There will always be companies like Acorn who can make anything as good as the original based on where there are gaps in market.

Him, ZVex, Jeorge Tripps, Mike Pierra and Robert Keeley were some of the guys that founded the boutique industry and saved us from the race to the bottom of the barrel that the industry was doing.

Too bad he was such a pain to deal with, his pedals are fantastic. I wonder if I can get a TERC on clearance….

i have a fd3 and 69 mk2, both sweet pedals for what they are. i like his stuff but have plenty of toys already so resist getting more, even though hes been putting up some great deals for a while

I've had a Clyde since the 90's, hand-signed. Sounds like a million dollar record. I've played the Deja-Vibe which was amazing sounding, but not exactly foot-friendly. The OCD seemed possibly useful on occasion, but I've also lived just fine without it for decades. The only thing this means to me is used prices on originals just went up. Anyone want to buy an original Clyde? I'm financing a new car.

Wow, that's a crazy way to treat your customers who spent a lot of money on your tape delay!

Right? I just emailed asking if they’d still be available, check this out this (seemingly automated) response…

We now require you to upload a video clearly demonstrating the issue you are experiencing with your Fulltone product BEFORE we discuss or accept item for repair. NO EXCEPTIONS! You can use your smartphone, a video-capable digital camera, or a video camera. If you do not have this capability, ask your child or a friend. After we have viewed your video, you will be contacted by our tech for troubleshooting and eventually issued a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) if the tech deems it necessary.

We now sell selected parts such as wah pots, wah inductors, thumbscrews, rubber feet, etc. to order parts go here.

We do not repair or advise on non-Fulltone items, no exceptions. We do not coach you or your tech on how to repair items.

Basic Shop Rate is $1 per minute for non-warranty repairs.

We cannot estimate repair costs OR shipping rates in advance of seeing the item, as these costs vary greatly depending on too many factors.

Items received without a properly & completely filled‐out RAF will be deemed non‐warranty and (in addition) may not be repaired until we receive the proper information. Make sure all information requested on the RAF is legible and accurate. Please PRINT CLEARLY. If we can’t understand you, then we don’t have the info we need, and that makes your repair a definite “non‐warranty” repair.

Proof that your Fulltone product was purchased from an Authorized Fulltone Dealer is mandatory for an item to have a chance to be deemed “under warranty.” However, having that receipt is not a guarantee that your repair will be deemed a warranty‐repair. That status is determined (by us) after the pedal arrives and after we examine it. We will determine whether something has been damaged or abused, or whether the problem is manufacturer‐related.

There are no shop visits or drop-offs unless cleared & scheduled in advance.

All items must be shipped to us via FedEx, UPS, US Mail, etc. and we strongly recommend that you follow their packing guidelines to assure that you have recourse should the item become damaged during shipment.

Shipping charges always apply, whether or not it is a “warranty repair.” The customer is always responsible for all shipping charges (to and from) as well as any insurance, Customs, or VAT, if applicable.

Payment: After your pedal has been repaired you will receive an emailed PayPal Invoice which must be paid in full within 5 days. We do not accept Personal Checks nor do we process Credit cards. All payments must be made through PayPal and it is our understanding that you may use a credit card with Paypal. Fulltone is not responsible for any issues that arise from your inability to pay or to negotiate your way through the PayPal payment process. Items left unpaid for more than 15 days will received a $5 per day storage fee.

Dayumn… relax! Keep in mind, I already uploaded a video in the contact form of it working fine because your message will not go through without one. I’m just trying to find out how long I’ll still be able to get tape for. Wow.

Honestly, after all that....

Good riddance.

Iâd respect the honesty if it simply said
âDear âvaluedâ Fulltone customer. Whatever your problem is, itâs most probably your fault. Youâre definitely an idiot regardless. We donât care how long it has been, dig up those old receipts or you can go catch cars with your face.

Every second you bother us with your whining about âoh boo-hoo my pedal doesnât workâ is going to cost you, after our tech careful goes over why itâs probably all your fault, then maybe weâll think about doing something but donât count on it.

Weâd prefer it if you just saved everyone some time and gave us more money buy buying a replacement Fulltone product out of your own pocket. Thanks for all the money douchebag!â

I didn’t put quotes around “under warranty” btw, that’s exactly how I got it

What's amazing to me is my Clyde came with a 'lifetime' warranty, as long as Mr. Fuller is alive. Something changed over the years. Someone must have taken advantage of his goodwill and turned him into a monster.
