Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

Re: Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

I'm undecided on the Choralflange. I've had it on my board for awhile, and it's my least used pedal. I guess I'm not a chorus kinda guy, so I have it set for a fast warbly Leslie type sound.

The Fat Boost is sorta like the Duncan Pickup Booster.....just a neutral volume boost, to hit the amp harder. It'd do the same for humbuckers as it does for single coils.

I'll tell ya which Fulltone pedals are spectacular though....
The Dejavibe......it's a high quality clone of a Univibe....Love it. All versions.
The 69 Pedal is a great fuzz, and I like it more than the 70 Pedal or Soul Bender.
The Clyde Deluxe is the king of wah pedals......love it, love it, love it.
The OCD is a pedal that is destined to be a classic. It'll be my next toy.
FDII's are a pedal that is killer, but I'd only recommend it to single coil players.
Supa Trem. Does exactly what it's supposed to, and functions great.
Soul Bender. Does what it's supposed to. Great Beck vibe fuzz.
And if you've got the dough.....the Tube Tape Echo!! I wish!

The less great ones, in my opinion ONLY!
Distortion Pro. There's better for the same price.
Choralflange. Good pedal, but $270 is steep for what it does. Only OK.
Octafuzz. Meh, not my thing. Good for those that like that sound.
70 Pedal. It does what it claims, but it's harsh and not my thing.
Ultimate Octave. A good pedal, but I can't find a use for it.

Re: Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

I Like Fuller's pedals(Some of them)but I don't have a good story to tell about the guy!

The story is based around me wanting Fuller to tweak my Mini Deja Vibe and the way he acted toward me upon just wanting to send the pedal to him for the changes...

Re: Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

I tried out my first Fulltone pedal yesterday...

I've found my ideal tone, folkses!

Gibson Les Paul Studio (loaded with a '59 and JB)
into the OCD
into a Fender Tweed Bassman

Just insanity. The OCD and the Studio are both awaiting me, the Bassman was a smidge pricey though. One day!

Fulltone kicks ASS!

I think I'll make a correction about something I said. At first, I thought the FDII only sounded good with single coils. I was wrong, because my LP sounds great with the FDII's 'flat mids' setting. Really a great OD pedal!

On my board, I've got the T. Rex Mudhoney for the fuzziest gain, the FDII for a lot of gain applications, and the Klon....oh the Klon....that's the one I'd never dream of selling.

Re: Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

GJ, I had the same experience. Bought an OCD and mosfet FDII about the same time thinking I'd sell one......think again. The OCD is just such a cool, versatile drive and had the lead at first but once I got to know the FD and realized I could get nice tones with any amp/guitar combo and still get to choose how the mids were voiced.....well I'm keeping both.

Tell me a little more about the '69. I've heard it's pretty smooth. I like to run a fuzz at times like an OD into an already cooking amp, going for that singing violin sound with some extra grit on top. I've got a voodoo labs fuzz that is good but not quite right for me.

Also have you thought about owning every version of the FD, I'm not big into collecting but always thought that would be cool. You need to get a mosfet!:smack:

Re: Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

Too funny, I didn't even notice.:laugh2: I'm no Fuller, but I like his pedals.:smokin:

Dude... looking at your s/n i thought for a second Mike Fuller himself popped in on here! :laugh2:

Me too....just now! I was like "holy crap, someone told Mike Fuller about this thread??" :laugh2: :chairfall

As far as the 69 Pedal......first, I love the look of it, but second, it's at the top of the heap, when it comes to good Hendrixy fuzzes.

If I would have kept my last 2 FDII's, I'd have 3 now, but I sold them years ago. I really like the Flat Mids setting, so the white, yellow, and Anniversary ones are all good for what I need.
I am thinking of collecting as many Fulltones as I can, since it never hurts to be able to use nice pedals that hold their value, in case I want to sell anything. One thing Fulltone did right was make high quality and cool looking enclosures. There's a reason you see a lot of touring players using them......they're tough as nails.

I was wondering about that. I've heard several HB players with the FDII and their sound is great. David Grissom comes to mind.

Re: Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

Yeah, and David Grissom is basically the same style and tone I go for with humbuckers. I love his playing. When I saw him with Storyville, he had the McCarty, FDII, into a vintage Marshall halfstack, and on top of that...was playing in a venue with wooden walls, The Troubadour. Awesome tone!

What a great player he is!

Here's a pic of my board, now that the FDII is on it. Also the Clyde Deluxe and Choralflange.

I'm going to be in Santa Monica the week after next (6/19-6/22). Is his new location anywhere near Santa Monica. I'm from Massachusetts and don't know crap about Cali.

Yeah, his new location is in Marina Del Rey, which is 5 miles south of Santa Monica. Go south down Lincoln Ave through Venice Beach. His location is just an assembly plant, so I don't know if you can just show up. The address is probably on his site.

If you're in Santa Monica, the two places to go are True Tone Music and West LA Music, and both are on Santa Monica Blvd. True Tone is closer to the beach, and WLA Music is right off the 405 Fwy.

Don't forget to go to Hollywood at the corner of Sunset and Gardner. That's Guitar Row, where there's about 7 music stores, like GC, Sam Ash, Mesa, Carvin, etc.

Thanks! This is great info, man. It's a business trip, so I may not have a chance to check out too much, but I try my darnedest.

Re: Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

All that equipment and he does not have a Celtic Amp!

Re: Fulltone Pedals and Mike Fuller's Collection!

I like a few of the Fulltone pedals my self, right now I just use the FD-2 Mosfet and that pedal is so good in the mosfet mode, I just picked up a Fender Blues Deluxe RI and the FD-2 Mosfet is so fat sounding way better than a actual TS pedal.

I'm waiting for his new Super Lead pedal to be released! this seems to be the one that will surpass the OCD,......... well from the description it sounds like it will.
