I really like my DL4 - that's how Christian got his Echoplex! lol!

Regarding Fulltone: I love the tone of my Clyde Deluxe Wah and I love the '69 pedal. It's the best Fuzzface I've ever owned. Liked it enough that when I heard Mike was going to stop making them I bought a second one. Now they go for over $300 used.

But I didn't like his Chorus Flange gizmo much at all and sold it soon after purchasing it. I like my old Boss CE-2 better. Got a second one of those too when Boss discontinued that unit. David Gilmore favors the CE-2 as well.

Mostly recreations with his spin on it, but he has a few originals too.

I like most of his stuff that I've tried, although there has been a few duds I didn't get along with.

I find that in general Fulltone stuff sounds kinda stiff and bland on it's own, but through a hot amp and into a live mix it cuts through way better than a lot of the 'better sounding' pedals I've had.

I A/B'd a TTE with a Maxon AD999 and I liked the AD999 better. I thought it sounded deeper and more organic.

Yep did try the KOT a mate of mine, who is an even bigger pedale geek than me....finally got his:D
Sweet sweet drives.....we set it for the close to least amount of dirt internally....it got that middy.....hmm how to say in English??
Dunno the notes just got that feel that both of us dig from older units....
Great great drives!
As for the TTE.....that is an expensive dog...and I would rather have an old Echoplex, for both sound and construction....or a Roland Spaceecho of either sorts:)
Know another guy who has the TTE....he has given up!

I dig the Fulltone stuff except the overdrives. I had an OCD and a Fulldrive II 10th Anniversary MOSFET and I pretty much got rid of them right away. The OCD was replaced with my BB Preamp and my Fulldrive was replaced with a modded TS9, and that was replaced with an Xotic AC Booster. I do think that the Fulltone Fatboost 2 is the best clean boost out there though. I like it better than the RC Booster. The Mini Deja Vibe is sick. The modern setting on it is very very useful, adds more brightness and headroom and the thing just sounds fantastic. I want to try a Teese wah and see if it's worth replacing my Fulltone Clyde Deluxe for. The Clyde is fantastic, but it kind of is a one-trick pony, even with the other settings. Now that I think about it, I gotta play with it some more... But overall I dig Fulltone stuff besides the overdrives.

Truth is that tape echo is not everyone's cup of tea and the other thing is that I am simply not impressed with the TTE...I tink in trying to make the Echoplex design more modern and up to date Mike killed off some of the funky charm...

I don't use the "clean" selection on my KoT at all...I set one side for OD and one side for DIST but I do like the clean side...great boost, lots of volume and a better tone IMO han a Klon...

It does feel like an old pedal doesn't it...I just love it so much in fact that I rarrely turn mine off, it just makes my tone bigger and thicker w/o messing wiht the tone of the amp/guitar combo Im using...

I did prefer my EP to the TTE but I haven't tried a Space echo in yeras...I'd like to have one, I remember them as being a good bit different from an Echoplex but still quite cool

Wah pedals in general are a one trick pony but I have to be honest...I think that a Teese Picture wah is more vintage sounding than the Fulltone Clyde...the Fulltone strikes me as a modern interpretation of a vintage Vox wah. Think about it like this, the Fulltone wah is like an Alnico II Pro...kind of like a PAF, similar tone but jazzed up a bit for a more modern sound, a vintage modern pickup and the Teese is like a Seth Lover, an exact recreation of something vintage...neither are better or worse than the other but the Fulltone has a modern flavor I didn't care for...

I think I had version 2. I just wasn't crazy about it. Seemed kinda lifeless to me. The think the BB Preamp has more balls and a more versitile tone section (bass and treble does wonders on an overdrive pedal for me)

See the thing is, for me it's the opposite. I want a wah that is more modern and not as fizzy sounding. THe vintage voxes add like a fuzz sort of sound to the tone (a little bit) and I do not care for that too much. I gotta look into the Wizard wah. I really want a wah that handles higher gain lead tones and spanky clean sounds better. I gotta mess with my setting on teh Clyde Deluxe, I'm sure I can dial in something better for the higher gain tones. For clean and SRV type stuff its amazing. I guess I like my pedals to have more of a modern flavor to them to compliment the vintage style guitars and amps I got.

I've never noticed a fuzzy thing with a vox wah or any high quality clone but everybody hears things differently...

BTW, now this thread is getting way off topic!

The Wiz is a modern sounding wah...very tame in the top, in fact it's only a har brighter in the toe down position than it is when it's off and it has a VERY wide sweep and works well for clean or high gain...it's funny I suggest the Wizard wah to clean funk players AND metal heads, and they are both always happy with it! The down side is that the Wiz doesn't really do the Hendrix/Clapton/SRV thing...maybe an RMC2 would work well for you...the new ones have 5 different sweps on them and are very versitile...

I have the v3, and I use the BB Preamp a lot. I like them both (I'm still on an OCD honeymoon). The BB is great for liquid lines, but it compresses a little in a way I'm not a big fan of.. If the OCD had bass and treble controls, that would be great!
