Fuzz Experts! ... Need help!

I'm in search of a good fuzz.

Probably will buy used as I can't afford a new boutique one
(if that's even needed)

I'm specifically looking for a stoner/desert rock tone.

i.e: Sleep's "Holy Mountain", Earthless's "Sonic Prayer" and most of Kyuss and Fu Manchu's stuff.

So more of the groovy, deserty stuff, and less of the doom/droney stuff.

I play through a RedBear MK60 & MK120 which are the
same schematics as a JCM 800 (ptp hand wired), but with 6L6's.

I don't know if what I want is a true fuzz, or a fuzz-y overdrive.
my amps have great headroom and are a great foundation for that kind
of tone, but just not fuzzy enough :cool2:

What do you guys think/recommend?

I'm certainly no expert, and I'm not familiar with the songs you mentioned. So take this as the worst free 'advice' you've gotten all day: An MXR Classic 108 fuzz.

The guts of an MXR Hendrix Fuzz Face, with the BC-108 engine, AC-optional operation and a "buffer" to help it play nice with a wah in front. You should be able to find it used for less than $100.

Trust me, you don't want a fuzz face type fuzz for that kind of music. Look into a Black Arts Pharoah.

Re: Fuzz Experts! ... Need help!

A forum bro has a Leviathian for sale right now, it has your name all over it.....

Re: Fuzz Experts! ... Need help!

old stonerrock.com forum dudes were crazy about fuzz pedals:

the Dam Meathead pedal, and the earthbound audio supercollider

Re: Fuzz Experts! ... Need help!

Black Art Toneworks Pharoah !

. . . you can thank me later !

;)

PLEASE Youtube the Pharoah and Black Forest models.

I am into my Stoner/Sludge 'N DOOM, and the Pharoah will probably fit your "musical-vision" like a glove !

Re: Fuzz Experts! ... Need help!

swollen pickles are very cool

for my style of c# tuned chugging palmuting sabbath riffs I was thinking it is great, but the black arts pharoah is a smidgeon better? I cant demo em so I gotta rely on clips and advice which has always been very helpful. I never owned a fuzz before.

Here is the Pharaoh:

her is the swollen pickle, seems more midrangy and a lil too compressed for me???:

here is the black arts lstr, maybe a bitt too compressed for my sabbath and queens of the stone age riffage:
