G12t-75

I'm looking at adding a second cab soon, but I kinda want something different than the V30s I already have. I'm looking at either Celestion G12T-75s or Emenence Man-O-Wars.

Any thoughts on how they'd perform with an Orange amp?

Any thoughts on how they'd jive with V30s in a full stack?

Re: G12t-75

well, to me 75's are all bottom and zingy highs...no real body to the tone and IMO that wouldn't work well at all with V30's.

You said you're looking for something different...different how??

Re: G12t-75

G12t-75 are quit mid scooped , fizzy and on top with good bass , not very clear .
I changed them for Classic Leads and it is better on every side .

Re: G12t-75

I have a pair I'd sell for 40 bucks each if you're interested in trying them. They definitely have midrange that won't cut your face off.

Re: G12t-75

yea, don't go with the celestion gts, no bass response or if there is is't muddy. Eminence V12s are awesome for alt/hard rock/metal.

Re: G12t-75

Ok...How about G12H30's or G1265's?

Vintage 30's are pronounced int he upper mids, H30's have more in the lower mids while the 65's are middy but not as aggressive in the upper mids as V30's. G12H30's are also known to play very well with V30's...

G12H-30s are too low of power rating.

I don't know anything about the G12-65.

Re: G12t-75

140w.

And I'm soon to add a 120w amp to my stable.... which is right on the margin.

Wow...if you are cranking them to the point where you really think you'll blow ont that I guess an H30 is out...however I still think that they might have the tone you're looking for...

Maybe the eminence version...it's not exact but pretty close to the 70th Ann G12H30 and rated at I belive 70 or so watts...

Re: G12t-75

Another speaker (which I completely forgot about!) you might really get into is the G12K100...those have lots of lows (still very tight) and good solid low mids w.o too much high mids...might be just what you're looing for!

Re: G12t-75

Here is a response I got back from Celestion about the g12k 100s. I had them for a while and ended up with g12hs. The Emi. version is called the Wizard and I believe is rated for 75 watts.

The G12K-100 is basically a bigger magnet version of the G12T-75 found inthe 1960 cabs so has a very similar overall character. The larger magnetmakes it louder but also tightens up the bottom end giving an impression ofmore midrange.regardsThe Doctor Info Sent by: info To: Dr Decibel/KHIUK@KHIUK cc: Subject: Guitar speaker sug. 19/09/2005 09:15 "

Re: G12t-75

I'm actually starting to lean towards the G12H-30 now. I'll run them as part of a fullstack with V30s in the other cab. The total power handling of both will be more than enough to protect the G12H-30s.

There ya go!!!

Im tellin ya G12H30's are great speakers...keep in mind they (for whgatever reason) take a long time to break in but after that they are killer sounding speakers.
