gain on 12

Re: gain on 12

i dont think Classic 30s are ho-hum. They are good working players amps. They are not boutique or vintage or any other kind of expensive, but if i rocked up to a gig and my amp was broken, and someone offered me a classic 30 to use...id be happy to.

Re: gain on 12

every month you get a different ho-hum amp and talk about it like the sky parted open and the Sexwolf Goddess of Heavy Rocks sent it to you directly to spread the gospel of tone to the world

then a month later you get something different and say the exact same things about it

i'm not mad at you, i'm just noticing a pattern. you should write for a guitar magazine.

Not to be a d*ck, but I kind of agree with these guys. For me, it's not the gear you get, but how you hype it. Almost as if you're convincing yourself it's great gear and taking all these kids who don't know any better with you. Some amps I could see (Jet City, Blackstar, etc), but others are just way off. Peavey Classic 30 for metal? Yea, with the right distortion pedal maybe.

oh man, no man, you're one of these guys? telling me I'm hallucinating?

no man, please, don't do this. Am I that despised and ridiculed?

omg, what the fuk am i doing here. All I'm tryuing to do is talk about gear.

Re: gain on 12

I haven't played the Classic 30, but just about everything I've played pales in comparison to anything by Fryette. I really feel like you had your hands on the ultimate amp and are letting it stand aside for an amp that has a mediocre reputation at best.

Sorry PV! I knew I'd regret posting that. Now I feel like an even bigger jerk. Keep the new acquisitions coming. I'll still read them... I promise.

P.S. Try to get a Bogner Alchemist. I'd love to read your opinion on that amp.

I think the classic 30s are awesome. I played one and agree w pv fan. They can go evil. You don't need crazy gain, just a good right hand!

This place has gotten very clicky and/or cork sniffer lately. Unless you post about booteek or something universally hated, you usually get flamed or ignored.

Assuming that's directed at me, I wouldn't consider Jet City or Blackstar as boutique at all. They're both made in China, presumably the same quality as Peavey. No snobbery on my part at all. PV's first 3 posts were trying to get people to guess a "ferocious metal" amp and then pops out a Classic 30. Kind of should be expecting those responses.

Anyway, that doesn't justify my post. I want to publicly apologize to PVFan for my original, d*ckhead response. It was uncalled for and rained on his parade. My bad brother. Waste of time meetings at work tend to dampen my mood and leads to outbursts. Sincere apologies!
