Gary Moore pups

I guess Gary Moore is too emotionally charged these days as I was conversing with and replying to Lew (respectfully) and WHAM!! the post didn't take. I'd taken the time and effort to type and respond to Lew, and the next thing I see is: "see the administrator" and then the thread appears to have been removed altogether. Is this what we all should expect from hereon out? To take time out from our lives to respectfully respond to someone only to have our work removed w/o cause?

Just a legitimate question.

Re: Gary Moore pups

My poor grandfather rest his soul, once made a statement when he was in a retirement home, "I feel like a man w/o a country, I feel like I'm in Germany". Those words could never be truer than they are today, and it's a sad state of affairs when you don't even recognize the country you live in anymore.

Re: Gary Moore pups

I can imagine all gear related forums approaching the following outcome due to their censorship and over-sensitivity...

Agreed. To add:

The forum (not this one in particular, but the forum medium to be specific) has been dying a slow death over the decades. The PC crap just speeds up the process.

Nowadays it's all Facebook, Twitter etc...

Re: Gary Moore pups

you are under the illussion that the US is free I see.. a common fallacy..

as for the forum.. no idea why the thread you replied to was deleted but this is a private forum and are not governed by notions of freedom... there is freedom but every forum ive ever been on has its own rhythm/flow and COC.. I dont agree with some of the mods actions and some have been irritating but none have been serious enough for me to put forth the effort to fight it..

i have left 3 forums i tried to be a member with in the last few months because of heavy handed moddin but im still here so overall the mods are fair.. this is even more odd as i DONT even use SD pickups, or dimazio or BK pups for that matter..LOL i know its strange but i like some of the people here, so i stay and ever so often i contribute

If it gets any worse, I'll have to swear off of all forums permanently. If you think about it, the minutes in a person's life have value as you'll never get those minutes back again ever. So, if your work is wiped out and especially for no apparent reason, then it's all for naught. My life and any contributions that I offer up have value (to me) and your time as well as many other forum members are no different. When forums see the truly worthy members permanently leave as a result of censorship, over-sensitivity to what they call P&R, personality clashes or differing views between mods and members, or power struggles by mods and those permanently egressed members are now replaced by non-contributors, trolls, and questionable forum practices then, "It's All Over Now Baby Blue".

And when such people wise up and do so not just from forums, but from the society that has created such PC values etc., that's when things with get interesting.

Re: Gary Moore pups

Wonder what happened? I sure had nothing to do with it. My wife and I have been out with friends all day.

Re: Gary Moore pups

If you are referring to the 'Custom Shop Greenies' thread, the mods didn't delete it...the OP did. So calls of 'over-moderation' and the forum being overtly PC are misplaced.
That being said, this forum has never been run as a democracy. It is a forum owned by a private company and they can run it how they want. My rules are simple: Kindness, courtesy, and respect. And leave any politics out of any threads. The mods here aren't as heavy-handed as many forums, and we have a really good group here.

Yes indeed it was. If OP's now have control to shut things down as well as the moderators, what's the purpose of even posting? If that's the deal I'm following up with my promises. See ya, wouldn't want to be ya. Buh Bye...

Re: Gary Moore pups

I don't think you understand.

It was deleted by the original poster.. NOT the mods. Get it? Forum members have always had the ability to delete threads they start, no matter what is in there. Again, since this might be difficult to understand: the person who deleted the post was a forum member, the original poster of the thread and NOT a mod.

So let's stop 'this country is going to hell' stuff here, and find another street corner to stand on. No politics of any kind on a guitar pickup forum.

well said.. i get irritated when the OP of a thread delete their thread for no other reason other than they dont like the response or advice they were getting though.. there are a few members that delete sh*t too readily IMO..its their thread but to me, sometimes this is a 'lil b*tch move

agreed on heavy handed mods on other forums..ive been to 1 or 2 forums that where more lax than this one but more times than just its opposite.. This forum is kinda in the middle IMO..

on as side note.. one of my FB friends posted something on FB.. I think it was either history ,politics or possibly both..i replied with non partisan,non-biased facts to back what ever i posted up..he must of not been happy with what I wrote, and he deleted his post.. so i deleted him.. LOL

Re: Gary Moore pups

The idea that OPs have been able to delete their own threads has been a thing the mods are discussing. We are leaning to an OP being able to lock a thread, but not delete. If things get out of control and people start getting all ranty (like our friend here), the mods could be notified and the offending posts deleted, keeping good information.

Re: Gary Moore pups

Wow. Delete one thread and the world comes to an end. Yes, I deleted my post/thread. NOT the mods. I did not do it because I was offended or didn't like what someone said. I asked a simple question and got nearly 30 replies that had not much to do with my inquiry. The thread devolved into magnet polarity vs. wiring, "you don't want those, you want these" and rehashing the lore of Peter Green's guitar. I honestly thought there was nothing new offered here and it turned into something unhelpful. I got all that from all my other research. So blame me. I apologize if anyone feels slighted. If the mods want to reinstate it, feel free. Thanks.

Re: Gary Moore pups

It isn't a problem that you deleted it. I want to be clear on that.

The problem was that it was perceived as the mods clamping down on opinions they didn't agree with (or something, I am still not sure). Then it devolved into 'I don't like the way this country is anymore' with a few homophobic slights thrown in. People, huh?

Re: Gary Moore pups

So...

If a guy wanted to sound like Gary Moore does playing the Peter Green Les Paul, would he go for Custom Shop Greenies?

Gary's tone was so different from Peter's even tho they owned and recorded with the exact same guitar.

I never cared for Peter's thin tone after he altered that neck pickup. I preferred his fat tone before he altered it...his tone with the Bluesbreakers.
