Gary Moore strat question

Re: Gary Moore strat question

Absolutely! Good stuff. I remember buying the Corridors of Power tape cassette when it first came out in the early 80s. Some great stuff there too. That intro to "End of the World" is just amazing. And Gary's version of "Shapes of Things" on VOTF just ripped.

BTW... I'm trying to find a sliver lining here. And I'm thinking that maybe I'll be able to find some of Gary's early work soon as a result of his passing and someone re-issueing those albums on CD to make some more money.

i have been wanting to track down a UK remastered cd copy of Victims Of The Future... i only have my old late 80's cd of it and the sound is less then steller... lacks bass on the recording big time... same with the live album We Want Moore

Re: Gary Moore strat question

Many years ago Gary was at the London Guitarist Show. He walked into the Marshall stall to say hello to Jim who was signing stuff. He was asked to play something. So he picked up a Tokai Love Rock which was plugged into a combo and played 'So What'. He sounded great. 90% of Gary's tone was in Gary's Hands. I was in the queue and audience to this and he came across as being a nice enthusiastic guy who was happy to chat to people. I think the grumpiness he was accused of was saved for Journalists.

Awesome. Glad to hear this. He certainly did always have a grumpy look to him.

Re: Gary Moore strat question

He sure did a great job at making those DSLs sound great at the Phil Lynott Tribute show DVD.

ya it makes me want to hunt down a DSL... LOL...

i've heard many strat players say the Plexi type Marshalls were the Marshall to own to play a stock Strat thru... but when it comes down to it i'd never be able to use a plexi style amp... hell i don't even use my 4x12 anymore

my TSL-100 is a weird amp but with the right guitar i can make it work rather well! My American Standard strat with a JB is really nice thru that....

Don't mistake a great player for a great amp...

That's not to say that DSLs aren't good amps, but they're nothing special, the reason they sound so amazing when Gary plays them it's because it's Gary playing them.

ya i'm aware of that... i own a TSL-100 and like it... but i'd like to own a DSL 100 or 50 for my expanding collection anyways... i like the high gain modded sound of the DSL/TSL's... i have a soft spot for Iron Maiden style sounds...
