GAS - The times they are a changing

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

The same thing has happened to me over the last few years. I went from a Tele guy to a Jazzmaster guy, even if only in guitar body shape. I dont own a guitar that sounds anything like a Jazzmaster even though both my electrics are "JMs".

I still love the tele tone, but prefer the look and feel of a JM. I dig what you are going through man!

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

I am totally digging the JM tone so far. The pickups are a little more P90 than JM but it's pretty righteous.

Got the Hallmark and it is gorgeous but there is a little problem with the string guide, fixing it up tomorrow and it should be good to go. Been playing it with a capo meantime and it is pretty fine

^^ Pix and review, s'il vous plaît - don't be an Iceman :nono:.

Strings snagging in the guide when they shouldn't?

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

No not all the strings were touching the zero fret making it impossible to tune in the open position. Minor but it threw me at first. Ideally I guess it shouldn't have happened but it's being taken care of so not a big deal. Bob at Hallmark is a really nice guy, very easy to deal with.

FedEx gave this thing a pretty good whack and cracked the case, it doesn't appear to have anything to do with the issue as the case took one for the team. The guitar is fine thankfully and drop dead gorgeous!

I'll take some nicer pics of it but so as not to Ice the place here it is

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

So I'm getting on pretty well with this thing so far. I put on 11's and the heavier trem spring and it is much stable for me now. Not 100% sold on the pickups, might have to go SD CS to get what I want but the guitar itself is pretty badazz

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

Well the next stage of this round of GAS kicked in.

The lefty Eastwood Stormbird is on the way. Found a real good deal for a used one online and had to give it a shot.

Updates to follow - it looks to be in a sort of vintage Melody Maker burst, black to yellow.

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

Kinda cool how the which one should I get thread has turned into, I got both!! Dude, seems like youve always been into guitars that are alil off the beaten path.

heck, since you got the greg brady guitar, leave the pinup girl on the other and call it Marsha!

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

I Love that Rickenbacher, but I really can't get over that headstock! Ugly to my eyes :dunno:

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

Thats a cool 'bird Scott. I was looking at their webpage not too long ago and admiring that guitar.

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

Tonka...lettin' go? Glad to have a bird back in your life again? Is it coming via Mystery Train? Or Diesel in the Dust?

Heh...nerdy UFO fan humor ;)

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

oh lord...you have Tiesco's Disease.

Brace for impact. It's gonna get funky.

We'll be seeing guitars with mojo switches, voodoo selectors, and mystery knobs all over the place soon....

Re: GAS - The times they are a changing

that is a distinct possibility, if you guys saw what I have in the pipeline you'd lose your ****.

Nerdy UFO humor always appreciated!

Ace you just gave me a great idea!!! You will get credit in the final revision haha
