Ok, i admit i have a problem, but look at this Dean USA Soltero & tell me it's not a beauty!

For me, it's as pretty as any GLP.

Sorry for the big-ass photo, but i know you like guitar porn as much as i do.

There's also a Dean Razorback guitar which i love- http://www.drumcityguitarland.com/d...-Rebel-6-String-Electric-Guitar-P640C208.aspx

ooooh yeah.

Re: GASing for a Dean USA Soltero.

Actually, I think it's better looking than most Gibson LPs, and I've always wondered how these Solteros play. But ****, they are expensive! And not easy to find in my neck of the woods.

Re: GASing for a Dean USA Soltero.

I think the import Soltero's are all MIJ. Not sure though.

@ 3th3r- Yeah Dean USA are very expensive, the mahogany Soltero in my sig is $2k which is great value but as a general rule, Dean USA's are very expensive.

I've been gassing for one since they came out. I like the black ones, myself:

Re: GASing for a Dean USA Soltero.

They look very nice, but they seem a bit small to me... the proportions I mean. I guess I'm used to gibbies... I'm curious about the import versions.

Re: GASing for a Dean USA Soltero.

I don't get why so many people have issues with that headstock. It's not symmetrical, but it's visually well proportioned and balanced.

Not to derail the thread, but as a designer that's one thing that always bugged me about the some headstocks... I tend dislike symmetry because it's never done right, and if you are going to bother with it at all you'd better not deviate from it. To make a symmetrical headstock and then not follow through with it on the body bugs the crap out of me.

Anyway, back to the gorgeous Soltero. I like the black one I posted above, only instead of a black back I'd rather have a clear gloss back. That would look rather striking. Only thing left to do is find $4Gs.

Re: GASing for a Dean USA Soltero.

I love those. i'd really love one of the Leslie West sig's, but WAY outta my price range

I've played a Leslie West, Soltero and it played great! However, I can't do the single pickup thing. There may be a custom build Soltero in my future, but I have a G&L being built at this time. Hopefully next year I can order one.

True but it always reminds me of someone flicking the V ;)

Re: GASing for a Dean USA Soltero.

First pic looked like it had a normal Dean headstock - I take it back, that ones quite nice.

The middle part of the body is thinner than a Gibby for sure.

I guess that's the 20% difference you need to market a production guitar without infringing a patent/copyright?

Re: GASing for a Dean USA Soltero.

OK, I'd agree with you on the V headstock... I don't like that one at all, and would have been extremely disappointed had they put that headstock on the Soltero. Not that that would have been the thing that keeps me from buying it... I'll never be able to get past the price tag.

Re: GASing for a Dean USA Soltero.

Ah ok.

I must admit i don't know too much about Dean's, but i know a guy on here bought a MIJ Soltero so i assumed all Soltero's were/are MIJ.

The Dean site is crap for info unfortunately.
