Gauge Guitars is Online!!!

Okay guys,
As some of you may know, I was working on a brochure ffor my guitars for some time. Well, my wife decided to get me a website instead. I'm a lucky guy.

So, I'm letting all friends here know that the cite is up and running.

HOWEVER, it is a work in progress, and I assure you I'm a much better guitar builder than website designer. So... that said, I'm sure the cite is full of mistakes and not everything is up to snuff yet, but feel free to check it out.

Nice guitars. You know your stuff! I'm not sure I like the aesthetics of the neck volute - I've seen other builders do it a bit more elegantly, but I understand the virtues of using one.

I also really like your double cutaway design. Very unique without being too wierd for a traditionalist! You need some pics of a finished one on your front page!

Outstanding!! I love the NECK STABILIZING VOLUTE Idea.

This and some other small details is exactly what I'm missing on the major brand guitars. E.g. framus also thickens the neck behind the nut/truss rod adj screw which helps to blindly find the 1st fret.

Blueline: please never stop focus on these details. That's exactly what makes small guitar builders survive beneath the giants

As for my double cutaway design - the piece of quilt maple i'm using (see "in progress page") for one of the guitars is so sick, I just don't see how I cannot put it on the front page.

When I used to have a shop in boston (after I apprenticed at the Museum of Fine Arts), I worked with an amazing bass builder. So, I always referred people to him. However, I think my design would work as a bass - but i'd have to figure some thigns out first

I have 3 on order (2 for forum members) and a flat top DC (lefty) for Pureoldsound almost finished

nah - he doesn't
he's the kind of guy who does everything with files and rasps- i mean everything
I do all my work by hand with files and rasps too, but i design on the computer using CAD. I came into the shop one day and he was testing out body designs by making 35 different bodies to see what he liked. I've gone through ovre 100 revisions of my computer files, but i don't start making moch ups till i'm down to a couple finalists.

anyway, want some gas
i'm working on a flat top acoustic electric (would be great as a bass) that is similar in design to that chet atkins sst gibson
