Nice looking setup. It looks like a session for the Stones! I don't see a pink paisley tele, so that's a good thing. You're pushin it with the pink jewel light! hahaha

Yeah, the paisley strat is filed under 'long term project' at this point. Maybe sometime this year. The studio had one of those MIJ photo flame strats with a fat V maple neck that I really liked for the paisley, but the studio guys wouldn't part with it.
my gear priority for this year is a semihollow, but my friend Sam won't part with the signature. It's his pride and joy. I'm looking at adding one of these to the collection:
-These go into production in September. Provided it doesn't have a weird thin neck or anything, I'm all over one of these like a rabbit on an upturned icecream container.

We're a deep funk and afrobeat band.
'deep' funk is a movement that started out in England in the 90s, when soul djs started collecting and playing increasingly rare and obscure soul and funk 45s they would find on trawling missions in the states. The deep funk sound is raw and basic early funk, and bands release their tunes on 45s, which are the fattest sounding of all vinyl formats.

It has special low impedance pickups, complete with a three position impedance switch and a phase reversal switch. They sound very good, nice and clear. Overall the sound is 335ish, but a tad tighter.
A couple of the tracks have the signature into the vibrolux and blue angel panned in stereo. Now that's a nice tone...
It's a shame we were always rushing, as it would've been cool to roll tape and get some clips that are a bit more 'guitar-centric' for you guys to hear. My strat sounded huge in that room through the vibrolux on 6...

There are probably 5 clubs tonight here in Minneapolis where you can find that flavor. The funk/free form influence is all over the place in these cities. while sitting on the rock side of the funk coin my live project is running about 50 percent improv. Really having fun with it.

We have not had the set up top record live, we did a gig Thurs and played for 3 hrs. It was extremely cool, it was outdoor and he had a full moon by the end of the night. I may have some video of that, have to find a way to upload some. I will talk to the guy filming.

HOLY CRAP!! That thing is BADASS! I've been wanting an ES-330 or an Epiphone Casino for so long...but that thing is so freakin awesome! I want one now, but they don't go into production until September, any idea of the cost?

Yeah, that guitar has certainly dulled my 330/casino lust.
The guy in charge of buying guitars for the local chain that carries Yamaha said he has no firm indication of price yet, but he would be surprised if they were more than the 12-1400 NZ dollar range.
1400 NZ = 900ish US.
So I'm guess that after the big US chains knock off their discount it'll probably be a US$ 6-700 instrument. Could be even cheaper. This is all guesswork, though.
