well, the other day my dad comes home with a guitar and a bass. said he found it on the road, the bass is a hondo bass(p-bass style) and the guitar is a harmony explorer(80's style!!!!)

im gonna give the guitar to my friend and am wondering if the bass is worth fixing. it just really needs new tuners and electronics and strings to hbe functional..

Re: gear score!!!......kinda...

I bought a hondo guitar from the 80's for $50 and fixed it up for $60, it's definitely worth it now so from my experience i would say you should fix up your bass. if you're not sure just bring it in to a local guitar technician and get their opinion.

Re: gear score!!!......kinda...

ok

i know a bass player who owns a shop, he said he'll check it out for me :)

Re: gear score!!!......kinda...

I used to have one of those Hondo bass's. The neck doubled as a tremolo. :laugh2:

Check that out before you sink too much cash into it.

Re: gear score!!!......kinda...

My school has a Hondo guitar, and the quality is frankly appauling, possibly the worst ive seen in any guitar, not saying your bass will be the same but probably worth looking at before you spend money on it, i mean, if it was found on the road, it wasnt exactly someones treasuered possesion.

That said, free stuff is awesome, My encore came from a mate and i fixed it all up and painted etc for a tenner, ok so its a terrible guitar and i hate playing it, but for a tenner it was worth it just because it gave me some exerience on working on guitars.

Free stuff does indeed rock! :headbang:

If it seems OK it's probably worth fixing up for a few $$

I have quite a few "free" guitars, an acoustic with a broken neck, a ols avon guitar with a busted tuners and a cheapo hohner goldtop I got at a boot sale for £20...

All of them are still waiting to fixed up though! :smack:
