WOW!! Lovely! Beautiful colour there, and good choice of project.

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

purdy!! i love the grain of ash

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

It's seeing pics like these that cause me to consider colors that my mind had previously been closed to. Really nice!!

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

Is that a real mid 50's custom color? I am not familiar with it if so.

Very hot Curly, very hot!

Any other details??

Beautiful Curly!

Even has the neck pickup rout which you're not going to use. Just like a real Esquire.

Can I suggest a pickup? Get a Custom Shop Alnico 2 Tele Hot Tapped.

Holy crap! That looks sweet. It made me realize I am officially Tele-less...I may have to do a Tele project soon...I am in full Les Paul mode, more to come later. Have fun bro.

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

thanks, guys ... this is going to be a fun one

not a 50s color ... it's a color that a few other places do ... Suhr I think for one.
he shot it like an MK white, then a tint coat over. He said he had shot this before, even though it wasn't listed on his site, and it came out exactly like the sample pic I sent

other than that, it will look a lot like a mid 50s E ... parchment guard, etc ... I have the neck at home ... USACG '54 profile with 6150 frets

Can I suggest a pickup? Get a Custom Shop Alnico 2 Tele Hot Tapped.

Lew, that's exactly what I want to use, but I might build it with a JD first ... I haven't called MJ because I figured she was swamped, but I need to do that.

BTW, if it's the same pickup as what they list as the tapped '53, they've gone up a bit!

my favorite tele pickup!!!

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

i think it is the same pup that they list as the tapped '53 jb on the custom shop page. great pup!!

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

The Custom Shop tapped 53 JB Tele bridge pickup is not the Custom Shop Alnico 2 Tele Hot Tapped...they are very different in fact.

Gary, Great looking start to a killer looking/sounding axe...looks great!

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

what an ace colour for an ash body!!! I'm lovin it already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

thanks again for all the nice comments

thanks, Christian

I took a look at the specs, and the '53 tapped JB seemed very similar, but it lists for $200.

so, I'm glad they're different ... the regular CS hot tapped sounds great, and the neck pickup that MJ winds in a set is about the best tele neck pickup I've heard.

The specs really arn't all that close...I think...

I am thiking the CS A2 Hot Tapped Tele is wond a LOT hotter...What are the specs on the CS A2 Hot Tapped Tele??

All I know is I called MJ one day and we got to talking about Teles and she said:

"I'm going to wind you the best Telecaster pickups you've ever heard."

She wound me a "CS Tele Hot Tapped" that's alnico 2 and a
alnico 5 "Tele ala Strat" neck pickup.

I put the "CS Tele Hot Tapped" in my favorite Strat, and it's the best Strat pickup I've ever heard!

Never got around to trying one in my Tele.

Re: gentlemen, I present the start of my new Esquire project

What are the specs on the CS A2 Hot Tapped Tele??

my first one was 9.4K, and 6.6K tapped (A2); the neck is 7.6 (A5) .. with the right amp, they compress very nicely ... raw tone with a sweet top end and just the right bite
