Lynch News

With delays to product design, George’s association with Peavey has ended. He is currently in negotiation with Framus to edorse and develop a new amp line for 2005."

this really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, lynch is one of my favorite players but he changes gear WEEKLY

ESP does make his guitars...he was in development with peavey to make an amp called "the brahma" or something like that...i guess peavey was taking too long...

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

Framus was the obvious way to go, since I think the Cobra is voiced very Lynch-ish if you know what I mean. Fat tone, amazing harmonic overtones and awesome clean ups. It sums up everything in George's rig except for the Uberschall which isn't really better but voiced differently

My guess is it'll be a Cobra like amp, with one channel voiced less agressive with less gain, and loud as hell!

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

By the way, I'm not sure if that'll be a good thing for you american bros. Framus is a German company and their amps are relatively more expensive in the US of A. Anyway, it might also be more expensive for us, since Framus amps don't really come cheap :smack: , but I guess the quality will make up for that

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

There was a thread about this yesterday, started by 7th Hell.
The general concensus was that moving away from Peavey is a good thing for Lynch, since he's known for using boutique equipment. I mean, look at it this way: His guitars start at about $1500, and the only Lynch pedal out there costs about $300; I can't see a $600 head delivering the goods!!

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

Yeah it seems new Peavey amps are all lacking a bit of this or that, one for example is that they're all way too loud! :smack:

I sure hope Framus will deliver, if he goes to ENGL next (nobody ever said he will, but it's a possibility, since he seemed to like the old ENGL Straight amps) we'll be hit for another couple of hundred dollar/euro bills :smack:

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

Im not surprised by this. Wasn't already using Framus amps? He probably got offered a better deal from them and needed away to get out of the peavey deal so he says that peavey had delays.

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

When I first heard one of my favorite players (Prashant Aswani) I thought he sounded like mr Scary himself (het uses the Framus Cobra), although he has a touch of his own flavour. I read George's also planning on playing on Prashant's new album and again this didn't come as a suprise to me. The only manufactorers I know can meet mr Scary's demands are Framus and ENGL, since they offer so much variety and again offer a sound I've often heard comes close to his sound

Depends on what you mean by "better deal". For example, I find it highly unlikely that Framus offered him more $$$ than Peavey.

Agreed.

I work with a guy who used to deal with George directly in a business capacity. He said George was always pleasant but perhaps one of the more impatient and had some of the most neurotic tendencies he'd ever seen. He said George was the kind of guy that would call every five minutes for the smallest thing.

A delay of the kind that Peavey is likely to have with an already impressive (albeit potentially fluctuating) roster sounds like the kind of event that could trigger George taking his ball elsewhere.

Good luck to all parties involved....

The XXX was originally supposed to be his amp, but I heard it wasn't what he wanted so they continued working on something else. And yes, he plays mostly ESP and is their biggest endorser with like 8 variations of sig guitars.

Well, I heard that it was because Lynch failed to show up at NAMM to promote it. :laugh2: Anyways, now it looks like I'll never own a Peavey, since this was their only potential amp that I was really interested in.

Actually, I saw Lynch playing mini-shows at NAMM the past two years in a row. He was at Peavey both years playing to small crowds inside a glass room (using a XXX stack). I also saw him last year at the Duncan booth (playing a XXX combo) and I took this pic, the background color goes so well, and the pose is right on, I think they should make a poster of my pic?

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

The NAMM show where the Triple XXX debuted is when he(Lynch) didn't show up to the meet and greet. Since then, he has done a few things for Peavey at NAMM.

What sucks about these situations is that Peavey spends a lot of time making amps that are almost ready to go, and then a Lynch or EVH pulls out at the last minute. It's a waste of time and money if you ask me. And yes, I too have heard George Lynch is very difficult to deal with in the business sense. Oh well...

yeah, I didn't mean Money wise. I meant like maybe Framous would give Lynch more promotions in magazine adds and things and maybe they are willing to meet all of his demands where as peavey might not have wanted to meet certain demands or couldn't.

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

I think like someone else said, he can never make up his mind. In Tampa he had a Peavey Classic and some Soldanos. Go figure. No an Engl, Framus or XXX in sight. He was using Marshall and those Genz-Benz cabs he endorses. It sounded great though.

I also think the only 2 Peavey amps worth a **** are the original 5150's and the Classic series. The XXX sounds so sterile and "NU metal" sounding. Blah.

According to Peavey's customer service, Peavey plans to go ahead with the amp and just rename it. Maybe with Lynch's name off of it, a few $$$ will come off too.

what an awesome pic...check out how checked the body of that tiger is...friggin' awesome!!...always loved that guitar!

Re: george lynch and peavey are no more

I think it's time for Marshall to revive themselves and step up to the plate. They did it for Slash and Zakk, but maybe it's time for them to come up with something half as good as a Bogner and stamp Lynch's name on it. Why mess with these peon companies, or cheezball companys? He's already shown that he's sifted through a bunch of copycat amps and still arrived at Superlead reissues, so he really should hook up with a big name like Marshall and come out with Marshall's most smokin amp to date.
That's what I think, anyway.
