George Lynch Marshall For Sale - Who's got 25k ?

Re: George Lynch Marshall For Sale - Who's got 25k ?

It looks like it has an extra switch. It's probably modded up.

That's a polarity switch and would be stock on US-market amps prior to the switch to PCB construction in late June '73. European-market Marshalls didn't have that switch, nor did the later PCB amps. I don't know if Marshall was making Asian market amps at that time.

A friend of mine used to own a 100W Superlead with an inspection tag dated 6/27/73, and that amp had the three switches seen here.

that'd be so sad if he keeps something like his randall head and sells that instead. but I guess at that price you can pretty much find another one, which he may have already.

Still, back for the attack had some of the best solo tones in rock, not sure why he'd want to give that up.

Hey...I'm a STAR, too!

I'll sell one of my Mesas for half of that! Celebrity owned!

It was modded in 1988. Meh.

You are paying $23k for George's name, and $2k for a butchered 50w nmv.

Re: George Lynch Marshall For Sale - Who's got 25k ?

I wonder what the "Super Kill mod by Frank Levi" is? Anyway, one could buy multiple unbutchered Marshalls and a Soldano for that price.

Re: George Lynch Marshall For Sale - Who's got 25k ?

I wouldn't necessarily call it butchered, it's been modded, by a professional who's mod has lasted almost 30 years. Looks to be in excellent shape given the amount of time spent on the road and has no doubt been looked over countless times and been treated very well. Not to mention how many fans agree his best tone was done with that thing. Although I do agree 25k is too much...but I'd love to see how much someone would pay for Eddies classic Marshall, which is bone stock.

BFtA has been remastered and relealeased in 2015. Pricey, but I'm gonna grab it ASAP. Also wanna grab a "Souls of We'

.

Why even mod a 1987 as you can drive the power tubes at quite modest volumes? A 100W marshall is another story.

Either that or my 1987 is biased super hot.

I don't hear Lynch's tone and say to myself I have to have that Marshall. There are few celebrity Marshalls I would want to own. Page's RAH, Jimi's Woodstock, EVH's, or Rhoades'. I would think any of those 4 amps would go for a bit more than 25K.

Re: George Lynch Marshall For Sale - Who's got 25k ?

I guarantee that is far from everything it takes to get Lynch tone. Pass. I'm needing something, but that ain't it.

Here you go I took this picture when he played B.B. Kings in NYC a couple of years ago

a signal flow chart made by his tech (same one selling this Marshall).

not a lot the same from a couple of years ago. but the guy is renowned for all the pedals he uses to get his sound. nobody is going to plug into that amp and suddenly sound anywhere near "Kiss Of Death" or "Wicked Sensation" (for example).

Re: George Lynch Marshall For Sale - Who's got 25k ?

And those charts/boxes are not even close to the "classic" Lynch Tone. That is post-modern Lynch. Distinctly more streamlined. And then, well, as always - the hands....
