Geting some noise from the Blues Jr... New Preamp tubes?

So I'm running my Blues Jr. a little harder now-a-days trying to get a litte drive out of it and then using an overdrive pedal...

When I turn the amp on I'm getting an annoying semi-feedback sound (it's quiet, but annoying...) When I kick on the overdrive pedal, as one would imagine, this annoying sound gets louder.

I've had some JJ Pre-amp tubes in there before, but right now I have the stock fender pre-amp tubes in. Would it help out my situation to buy some new pre-amp tubes?

Re: Geting some noise from the Blues Jr... New Preamp tubes?

The Blues Jr. is a little RF noisy to begin with, but maybe V1 is going a little microphonic...swap them around and see what happens. I've noticed some strange little reverb feedback as well...maybe isolate the pan a little with some rubber feet off the cab...that fixed mine.

Isolate the pan with some rubber feet... if you could go into a little more detail about what you're trying to say there, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: Geting some noise from the Blues Jr... New Preamp tubes?

Four (or two) screws are used to mount the reverb pan in the bottom of the cab...get some soft rubber or felt washers and put them between the pan and the cab surface to isolate the reverb pan from the cab a little better---sometimes cab vibrations can cause some reverb weirdness; rumbling, low level microphonics. Simple, cheap fix; although it may not solve your particular problem, it can't hurt.

Hey Bro, Thanks a lot. I will do this cheap/simple mod and even if it doesn't help the problem much, it seems like a good idea.

ROck On!
