Gettin to a place where Jacksons arent my Bag

I spent a lot of time and energy with 24 fret Jacksons-over ten years worth. One day I recently woke up to find that the ergonomics of the 24 fret Jackson guitar Dinky body guitar do not work for me at all! Is the action super low?...Yes!... BUT... For the same reason that I do not play Explorer guitars, I do not like the Jackson anymore; Terrible player ergonomics. You simply cannot get super serious playing those instruments.
I will not own any Explorer( love V's), and I now have but two Jackson 24 fret guitars simply cause the action is amazingly LOW on one, and on the other the tone is paramount..
Eddie Van Halan and Yngvay had it nailed..and I am now a Charvel and /or regular Fender Style Superstrat guy.
These original VH1 Fender style guitars
oer regular Strats styles have always offered and will always offer the best playing ergonomics of all time.

no jacksons? beatles? metal?

I am seeing a pattern here. You're not into metal at all. You are bumpkin maniac.

Close your eyes and I'll kiss you Kramersteen! Okay... not really. Leo had the right idea. Not Jackson.I admire your work wiht the modern body style, however the truth of the matter is that the original Fender design is , was, and will always be the best for all time. I only just realized it myself , so not coming down on you or anyone.

I think metalmaniac should legally be forced to change his name....

Re: Gettin to a place where Jacksons arent my Bag

No harm in admitting the Strat is the perfect guitar body shape. It's super comfy. Most of my guitars are strats or strat derivatives and only one is a traditional 3 single coil strat. Most are of the super strat variety - Fender, Charvels and Jackson.

I was never comfortable with a Dinky body. They're too small.

Re: Gettin to a place where Jacksons arent my Bag

I own a couple of Jacksons myself, and I personally love the way they feel, and I always have. I feel the most confident in my playing when I play them, but I also love the feel of the Fender Strat. In fact, I've been really wanting an HSS Strat. Mainly because I love to play the blues, and my band is a heavy metal band, so I want to be able to go back and forth between each genre with it. I've been really loving how the Fender Strat feels. I find myself playing faster on those than I do my Jacksons sometimes, which seems a bit ironic.

My Jackson Adrian Smith is exactly what you're describing. A badass full size strat with HSS and Floyd that can do just about anything

Re: Gettin to a place where Jacksons arent my Bag

I have a Strat and a Dinky, maybe the Strat is a bit more comfortable if I really get picky about it but neither is uncomfortable. Don't notice much of a difference swapping between the two ergonomically.

Re: Gettin to a place where Jacksons arent my Bag

I NOW notice a huge difference. its like i said with the explorers the neck hangs way out in space, forcing your arm to extend unnaturally without complete control. maybe its different with a guy with big arms, thats a possibility, but for my smaller arms, the true 22 fret evh style strat neck stays close to the torso, and your able to physically leverage your arm and hand close to thebody for way more precise control over your arm and hand.

I'm pretty comfortable with my Strat but I honestly don't notice much of a difference when I switch to my superstrats, some are smaller like my MG-122 but apart from feeling lighter I don't particularly mind either way.

My no.1 is a "tilted" design but about as big as a Strat. My no.2 is basically a soloist clone...

Maybe YOU can't get super serious on those instruments, but thankfully plenty of others CAN and HAVE.

I sound like me on any electric guitar.

I can verify from personal experience that such is not the case. They're beautiful guitars but are unreasonably uncomfortable for me, with my 3' wingspan. The bridge is the other half of the equation, as you're almost picking on the opposite side of your navel unless you sling the guitar across your picking hip, but then that makes for an even more uncomfortable fretting-arm angle.

I cannot stand a Strat-style body: I find them also unreasonably uncomfortable, but more for my picking arm than fretting. I love the way they play and sound and the ease of access to every fret, but it feels like I'm wearing crooked pants for some reason.

However, my JacksonStars NASLs (Japanese-market "New Archtop Soloists") are extremely comfortable, and I finally figured out why - the location of the scoops on either side of the body. With a Strat, they're almost dead-center between the pickups (in a 2H Charvel SoCal anyway), but with my NASLs, the scoops are closer to the neck pickup, similar to where they are on a Les Paul. This changes the way my arm crosses the body, and thus results in a more comfortable picking arm position.

However, for the ultimate in exotic styling and playing comfort, you cannot beat a Jackson Warrior IMO.
It's all in my sig:

send it to me then.

ha! awesome response! :lmao:

I spent two years with Jackson Dinky's and Soloists–absolutely loved them. I kinda went through the same thing but by accident. Some knucklehead broke the neck on my Jackson Soloist (RIP oh sweet guitar) and I needed another go to electric. I chanced upon a Strat and found I liked the strat better in my hands–felt more natural and comfortable. Still like Jacksons, just have moved on.
