Getting a Mixer into a computer

I have an analog mackie mixer. I want something that will let me run the mixer into my laptop. I only want something that can do this. Is there any thing that does this and is cheap? I have the m-audio black box but I don't know if it will work for this.

can't you just use the mackie's line out into the laptop's stereo line in? .. does the M-audio have a stereo line in?

this shouldnt be harder than a cable with the right connected ends

good luck

t4d is right... I use an 1/8" stereo plug into the sound card on my PC - then with adapters, a pair of RCA jacks pugged into the mixer. That's really all there is to it.

However, if you have some kind of M-Audio interface, it may be slightly more complex... but you shouldn't have to buy anything else besides cables and adapters.

Haha I first thought this was about putting...

..into a computer...

Andas others have stated, it should be enough to run a cable from the mixer's line out to your laptop's line in and maybe use an adapter...
Although most Laptop sound cards are crap anyway, so and external one would be better... but try it out with the internal and see...

Sound cards are tailor made for this

Hey thanks. I will have to try it. My laptop was not really designed for recording. All the Black box has is an instrument input (that can be put on bypass) and a mic input. Any other ideas?

If your soundcard does`nt have a input you`ll need a new one!
When you have a propper soundcard you`ll need a split cable mono, mono, stereo
or two 1/8 cables.(depends on the soundcard).
Conect the cables from the main output on the mixer to the input on the SC:)
If your analog mixer does`nt have any preamps you`ll have to get a SC that have a internal preamp and phantom power!! Rock on
