Getting a new guitar, any suggestions?

Okay I am just about tired of telecasters. I love them to death but I need something new. I just about have in mind exactly what specs I want:

Red finish no pickguard
Humbucker bridge Single coil neck
Maple fingerboard but that ain't too important
between $100 and $200

I am kinda thinking a Washburn X10 but I have no experience with Wasnburn guitars. Any suggestions?

Washburn gives you a lot for your money. Same with Peavey and Agile.
Go on Ebay, click electric guitars, and sort from lowest to highest till you get to your price range and see what's out there. You'll pay the least on there, too.

squire makes a 51 that sounds like it would vbe something you might like but i know that it has a pickguard

Re: Getting a new guitar, any suggestions?

sorry the 51 doesn't come in red, but there is a tele special that is red, no guard and a humbucker in the bridge and single in the neck

I just ordered a red Washburn X10. It was cheap so I have no idea how I am going to like it. I read some good reviews on it though.

I am just guessing it will need a better pup in the bridge. I want a hot humbucker and I will be playing it clean. What should I get?

you'll be happy with the washburn. ive played a few of the x10's and they are great guitars for the money. the stock pick ups r not to drool over though. i would definately change the pick ups.

My main concern was the neck and pickups. I was expecting a thin finish and sharp fret edges like many cheaper guitars have.

Ooops . . . I see that you already got something. I was gonna say that a Squier Cyclone is a nice HS guitar in that price range.

Peavey Generation EXP also, (although, technically, its an HSS.) :)

Re: Getting a new guitar, any suggestions?

I have thought about getting a Squier Cyclone before.
