I tried this with my ES-335 and the Dirty Fingers bridge. No wah type sound, but there was a very nice effect.

I've started setting the pole pieces in all my pickups to match the board radius because I found it really made pickups come alive. I had both sets of screw poles in the Dirty Fingers this way, so I tried flattening the row closer to the neck. It opened up the sound a little and made for a far more interesting crunchy tone.

Hooray for experimentation!

Seems really pronounced on bridge pickups. I goofed around with the screws on my new 500T and 78 too, just raised the screws a little higher than I usually do, it just gets more pronounced. I can't believe I never noticed this before, good job Varg.

I set the bridge-side row about 1 mm higher.
The effect occurs when picking hard and/or bending strings. It is a subtle effect which is far from the intensity of a wah pedal, but IMO it emphasizes the expression. It is not a static effect like a cocked wah pedal. I love that tone.

Exactly. I find it most noticeable if you play a note on the B string, 15th fret, and bend it. You get that "wahhh" kinda scream, it's awesome! :approve:

I get all the morphing wah that I want from rail PU's (Duncan's or Bill Lawrence's). IME it has rather to do with picking technique... But as a matter of fact, the height of screw poles is a critical parm when it comes to create this effect with a PAFish HB.
