GFS Pickups

Does anybody have any experience with GFS pickups from GuitarFetish.com? How do they sound? I ordered a Dream 90 humbucker-sized P90 and I'm wondering what to expect. It was cheap enough I thought it was worth the gamble. The body and neck for the guitar it's going into is five weeks away - ordered from Warmoth.

Re: GFS Pickups

I got a set of GFS Fat PAF pickups for my Agile LP. They sound great. The only complaints I have are:

GFS's 'zebra' is opposite of SD's, but the pictures on the site show otherwise. (that is, on the GFS zebra pups, the screw coil is black)

The leads on the GFS pups I got were really short...the bridge barely made it, and I had to extend the neck leads.

But all things considered - they sound great, and they're dirt cheap. :D

I have Dream 180s in my Agile AD-2500. They are great. I just ordered a set of tele pups for my newly acquired Peavey Tele - and a set of Dream 90s, but still trying to decide where those are going.

If you're not already on, pay a visit to Harmony Central forums. There are a zillion GFS threads - almost all are positive

Re: GFS Pickups

just got my little killer in- see the 'review' posted earlier this week- Interested in your input on the p90-!

Re: GFS Pickups

I really like the tele bridge model I got. Very twangy; much better than the stock one from my Yamaha Pacifica 302.

Re: GFS Pickups

I had a vintage '59 in the bridge of my old Agile 2500 DC when I sold it. It sounded pretty darn good for the $15 that I paid for the pup. Not of SD quality, but better than most stock pups for sure.

Re: GFS Pickups

I've got a Dream 90 & dream 180 in an axe. They're fairly good. My local guitar tech/music shop goiy is a Duncan Dealer, and he was suitable impressed with the quality of the GFS pups. No shielding required, no funky issues.

They're not Duncans, but they're not bad.

Re: GFS Pickups

I have a Lil Hot Puncher and a Lil Modern Vintage Puncher in my Kramer Classic III (Think Tele w/ Floyd) and I'm very happy with them.
