I have this LP standard. After sometime the neck finish is kinda sticky and dull. Some people say that its oxidize sweat that cause it. Anyone got this problem???
I found mine was sticky for awhile, and people told me to polish it. Luckily I'm lazy and I didn't, because its now built up a solid base of grime over the finish to the point where it feels smooth. Either that or the finish has finally cured completely.
Keep playing it until the nitro finish cures completely (this can take anywhere from 6 months to a year). You can also go over it lightly with fine sandpaper, like 600 or 1200 grit -- just enough to make the surface not so smooth.
Sometimes a Gibson neck takes a little time to totally cure. It usually works itself out.
They can also get kind of grimy, so a little polish or lemon oil and a polishing cloth will get it back to glass-like smoothness with some elbow grease. Eventually you'll need to do that less and less.
My ES-137s neck still gets a little tacky after about 45 minutes of playing, but it's getting better.
I bought a vintage mahagony, with the more raw neck. I got no problems, but on my epi, i find that just cleaning my hands before I play, and cleaning the neck after I am done really makes a difference.
