Gibson 2019 line-up

Re: Gibson 2019 line-up

At least they are doing the nostalgia thing right with regards to Kramer now: reissue Nightswan and Sambora (and new Stagemasters)! Now that is awesome!

I really hope that these models to honour to their legacy.

Oh yeah!

Re: Gibson 2019 line-up

Really now.....Add the VAndenburg, and the Southwest graphic Nightswan at a premium price and much much win!

Re: Gibson 2019 line-up

. From a business perspective, it'd be interesting to see them discontinue a model or two entirely for a couple years just to draw hype when they reintroduce it. For example, drop the Firebird for a few years.

This - right here. Les Paul, V and Explorer need to be there all day everyday in classic bursts and solids. You need to wait for a Les Paul Jr. or a 61 SG to roll around...

America or wherever 2000's MusicYo Kramers were made?

Although... I did buy my cousin a MusicYo Kramer Focus 211 as a gift way back when. For $99 new, it was a surprisingly decent beginner strat

Re: Gibson 2019 line-up

The percentage of guitar players that are big enough gear heads that they would write articles about not liking a particular piece is not a representative sample size of the guitar playing population at large.

And with a signature "new stuff always sucks", it's clearly not an objective standpoint that you're coming from.

Well I see em on CL and stuff all the time, usually with "I bought Grovers don't need these", as well as a few variations like "Klusons" or "Schallers"

Re: Gibson 2019 line-up

Aside from ditching the really weird stuff (that happened a few years ago already, didn't it?) it's still not a very simple lineup. 4 Les Pauls is fine, but 3 junior/special models is too many, there's too many SG models, and if anything needed the modern treatment (locking tuners, compound radius fretboard, etc), you'd think it would be the V and Explorer. I think it would stick with the original spirit of those models to go modern only.

Mostly I just don't see anything that I would actually want to buy.

Seriously.... where's those black-on-black Explorers and Vees with Seymour Duncan Blackouts or EMGs and locking tuners??? Everyone knows that'd sell, other brands have been doing it for years

How exactly have these birdbrains not yet capitalized on that? Heck they could even shortcut the hell out of the finish and use ebonizing stain for cheap cheap cheap production

Re: Gibson 2019 line-up

As far as the Kramers go: must say those '84's with Alder/Maple look interesting to me.

But nah. For me: it's Jacksons with Invaders "until death do us (all) part". Nostalgia has cost me a lot of money and gotten me nowhere.

Must say I'm bit surprised at the Nightswan specs. in the brochure i.e. those are not original Nightswan specs. (pickups and nut to name two of the most obvious). Matter of fact (on just fact checking my previous statement): only thing that seems to conform to the original Nightswan specs. is the artwork!!! Good luck with that. Even my Blaze is closer!!!

AFAIK the nightswan is only going to be available in the hideous polka dot graphic.

This surprised me: It says 2xJB, but if you look closely, the bridge pickup is obviously a Full Shred. As for the R2, they probably think it is an easier sell. I love R1 nuts, but I don't think many others do.

The guys on the Kramer Forumz noticed the same things.

Too funny. “Hideous”. Love that word. Too true. And agreed.

Yeh but the R1 nut was a “feature” of a Nightswan. In my understanding what made the Nightswans “special” was indeed the thinner neck and shorter scale length. Wonder if any of that’s changed with these??? The other guitars look great but I don’t think they’re gonna be selling too many of these (well: maybe if you’re not a Nightswan fanatic or you’re uninformed i.e. then it will not matter). Put it this way: at least I don’t see them impacting on the value of the genuine and original Nightswans so that’s good (hell: even my Blaze maybe lives to fight another day!!! LOL!!!).

By the way: is that avatar pic. of yours not Vivian Campbell with a polka dot Nightswan (been meaning to ask you for ages)???

To answer Homerically, with the last question first: That is Jake E. Lee ca. 1985. It could well have been Viv and the Swan, though.

It is hard to tell how much the R1 is going to affect the thing. The Kramer scene, as far as I can tell, looks to be split between those who have started saving and those who think it looks terrible. To be fair, I think it is impossible to please some of them, unless you make an absolutely correct, USA-made guitar and charge no more than 500$ for it.

From what I have been told so far, the scale is the same, but we'll know more about that and the neck size soon enough.

Now THAT is hilarious!!! LOL!!!

And isn't it too funny (and possibly the reason why people don't make good eyewitnesses!!! LOL!!!):

Every time I've seen your avatar I've been reminded of (what I thought were) similar pics. as below (evidently because of the coloring, the background, and what APPEARED to be dots on the blue guitar in your avatar). Turns out: they're not dots on the blue guitar in your avatar and Vivian is holding a Nightswan II Lightning Storm!!! LOL!!!

I don't know how good a guitar it is yet, but this is insanely hot:

Three-piece neck confirmed.

I'm not seeing much new there. Kind of like a cheeseburger with pepper jack. Oooh how exotic!

I think the big deal is that this years lineup is far more inline with what guitar players have been asking of Gibson.
New management might actually be listening to us!!
