Gibson 3 way toggle wires...ps. is Wymore around?

I did a search and could not find the answer, so hopefully I will get it here.

I am rewiring an Epi LP Standard and I am curious as to what type of wire I should wire up the switch with for both hot and ground leads? Single conductor w/braid for the hots to p'ups and jack, and single conductor cloth for the ground? I just don't want to order the wrong stuff. Also if there is a really good diagram or explanation of the wiring, that would be cool too, though I did pull the 3way diag from the SD list already.

thanks for the help

Also, thanks again for those who answered my ?'s on p'ups, I made a decision at last.

Is there another area I should have posted this?

I did a tele custom up like this, and just used single conductor all the way around. Worked just fine.

No, the Pickup Lounge is the place to ask about pickups and wiring.

However, you're asking what you "should" use: It's up to you. Either single conductor with braided shield or cloth covered will work for the switches and pots and grounds. There's no right or wrong.

:scratchch...Ahhh, so its the way I worded the question then?

Mark and Dr., thanks guys for the input.

Mark I too have done this all with Fenders in the past but this is a little different beast I think, same principal I know, but its my first time with an LP.

I was thinking the braided for the hot connects as I thought it would help to reduce noise and interference. Is that not necessary?

Doesn't matter which one you use as ground or hot, though the metal braid is usually used for the ground and the inner wire used for the hots.

I'd avoid using braids for anything other than grounds... too much potential for shorting the signal or introducing noise. As for the type of wire, it's of little consequence. Some use braided, other prefer single conductor in a cloth insulation, others get by fine with plastic insulated wires. My preference is to shield the entire cavity with copper tape and use single conductor wire for all connections, but that's simply one man's preference.

Good luck.

Do I need to use braided cable at all, or can I get the same (and good) results using single conductor cloth wire for everything...grounds, hots, pots, switch, jack?

And if I used cloth single for it all do I need to be concerned with shielding the cavity?

When I say tele custom, It is actually a "deluxe" setup. It is actually laid out in the same 2 vol, 2 tone, 3- way toggle, lp design.
