Gibson 50th Anniversary SG 12-String

I'm down with it. My guess is it will cost somewhere around $1600 or so. I've been wanting a 12 string solidbody electric for quite a few years now.

It's an SG. It's certainly got my approval.

Re: Gibson 50th Anniversary SG 12-String

As soon as I saw that you had posted, I knew that you'd have something idiotic to say.

Do you even have a reason why it is stupid?

No. I think its stupid. I'm no one of any importance. Its just my opinion. I just think its really really stupid. I don't like it.

Re: Gibson 50th Anniversary SG 12-String

That's probably the coolest guitar Gibson has released in the last several years.

Re: Gibson 50th Anniversary SG 12-String

Ya know, my only issue with the 12 string SG is that the SG has one of the weakest neck joints ever on a Gibson...I just see a lot of those getting broken...

See, that's a viable and intelligent statement. Much better than just saying "stupid".

Re: Gibson 50th Anniversary SG 12-String

Ya know, the other thing I see that bugs me...12 Grover mini's...I know folks like Grovers and all but Kluson strip keys would have done the job just fine and cut down on the weight...

Again, SG's have a flaw...they tend to be neck heavy anyway...add anotehr headstock to the top of it and 12 Grover mini's and I'm betting that ***** does a head dive if you let go of the neck!

You're right. I didn't even think about that. I still like it though.

Re: Gibson 50th Anniversary SG 12-String

Normally I dont like 12 strings nor SG's - this I dig though. I'm sure i could get some interesting sounds out of it.

I agree. I was kinda thinking the same thing, but I was so happy to see that this guitar wasn't a monstrosity that I had to say something positive about it. Klusons would have been a much smarter decision. It may just be me, but the 490/498s are pretty bad pickups; Gibson Classic '57s would have been a much better choice while we're on the topic of improving things.

I do like the fact that the neck is maple though. It should add some better stability to the design.

There's something about electric 12 string that has never really connected for me. Love an extra set of strings on an acoustic. Less so on electric. Can't explain why.

Still...that's pretty cool looking. If Gibson puts it out at the price Jolly guessed, I think they'll sell a few.
